Wait...isn't the surge protector's function to dump the excess load/surge to prevent this? So what can be done to prevent this kind of surge from damaging appliances, fixtures, etc?shake d livin wake d dead wrote:Recently we had serious electricity problems... Most surge protectors have a lifespan, it’s recommended every 3-5 years to be replaced. Seeing that we live in Trinidad. Every 2 years is good

I suppose the easy answer is individual socket protection for appliances - these are 100-200 ttd ea.
I know there are 220v versions for ac units but I don’t think I ever saw a high current version for water heaters.
