I see several ppl including it on their list of big songs for this year. I think its b/c we consume a lot of media on YT now and the official video for Fuh Spite only came out like 1 month ago.

Don't really understand why, as far as I remember that song was out during carnival 2023.

https://youtu.be/eGHAk5eCJeE?si=PqlFWfX6LTvJz7Y_

Seems it's a re-release

Cool, always loved that song, just confused me why it now blowing up.

And I just noticed I'm in the video too, nice

So interesting fact - it seems this song won road march in 1955

after that the rules were changed to only allow songs vocalized by T&T artistes

lol wda confirmed that it had Nazis hiding out in Trinidad in 1955 who was jamming that tune hard for the Vaterland.

edit: look I don't really want to get off-topic, after WW2 the Catholic Church played a key part to establish a number of Nazi "Ratlines" to help registered wanted Nazis escape the authorities in Germany. A lot of the coordination was centered in Franco's Spain because he was a fascist dictator who the Nazis helped in 1936. They, as the Catholic Church, the main political religious force in Spain, used Spanish missions in the Caribbean and Central America as underground travel hubs for Nazis to flee to all the South American countries, from Venezuela to Chile. Trinidad was no doubt one of those hubs, and it's very possible that a few Nazis ended up hiding out here and Tobago and the Intelligence authorities here couldn't care less.

I was glad when the wave yuh rag era of so called music fizzled out as it was getting ridiculous
but we can see how things just went further downhill since

last couple years music producers come pushing their "beats/riddims" and getting artistes to sing over that
as a kinda cut and paste recipe to make a soca tune
doesnt seem to have helped either....

There was a real spike in creativity from 2015 to 2020.....some of the best soca ever. However, we can probably blame covid for killing the vibes.....it just feels like most recent soca is lazy production and lazy song writing.

Though last year did have a few really decent tracks, this year......none really standing out big for me.

The the melody, slow build up, hook and high bpm in the chorus.

Personally it only have about 4-5 songs that on repeat this season...everything else is garbage

Last night I heard "carnival contract" from bunji. That may be a contender for road march as well
