Trinidad hard no doubt but why are people making kids, paying thousands to send them to the same failed education system (extra lessons etc) thinking they gonna get a big wok after years of schooling.
Degree..masters etc...the game is rigged.
You can't win and your kids can't win...Stop procreating! :agrue:

It's a natural delusion where they think their children will be the next Elon Musk or Cristiano Ronaldo and if not well, that's life..., what you go do

Making kids is a failure if 2 or more and not in a stable family. Then again, marriage is also outdated, not beneficial for men.

Trinidad education teaches u not to think. Reasoning & logic is needed

The most children you want to have this time around is two, no more, and you want them about 10-12 years apart.
As regards marriage, it ain't all that bad all the time, but yes, men often get screwed in the divorce. That can be at least partly avoided by either never getting married (but just kno if you living together for more than 5 years she has certain rights that are very similar to if you were legally married)
Or
Get married but sort out yuh business early.

Living together as man and wife for 5 years allows women to make legal claims on your possessions according to the cohabilitation act.

This topic answers really depends on the individual... Single, married/with kids, divorced no children/ with children... Then the type of lifestyle etc... but I will (repeat) what was probably mentioned that food doesn't need to be a high $$bill if you single you can keep it minimal. Desserts and sweet Indulgence not a necessity; cake ice cream chocolate etc. Balanced meals important but not the Starbucks every other day or one a month even . Multivitamins help when following low intake diet.
Settling recurring expenses like utilities should be high on the list. Toiletries/linen don't go bad so deals on those/stocking up could settle a year's worth of expenses.
Savings should be a big part of the budget, once you could put it aside, 40-50% of salary should be saved. It sounding like plenty but that covering most "incidentals" like car repair/maintenance, investments, home repairs etc, but also yearly insurance, taxes etc.
Say you can make 50% to savings, 25% to food/utilities/misc you have 25% can go towards regular expenses like rent/gas/pets more towards savings etc. I just generalise but that's the idea, especially for single folks. I can't pretend to know how married peeps do their budgeting much less the others sector of the pie chart

Grocery for me(family of 3), every 6-7 weeks is around $4500(between pricesmart and grocery). I don't buy food period! A restaurant outing is ever so often

Both utilities (water and power) are presently reading in the credit values as I've been putting something on the bills every month.

Rest is to save, do something around the house, 1 vacation destination for the year and that's about it.

I tried once but we don't run out and replenish and almost always have to carry even if grocery day didn't happen.
I usually calculate cost of meal based on cost of ingredients and it always comes back better than buying.
Plus I know my ingredients so the health aspect is there.

Trinis should be spending wisely especially in these times.

Too much consumption of import goods wants.

Focus on the necessities.

The social media plays a major part as it encourages unnecessary spending where Trinis compete with eachother for likes, views and attention through fancy foodie pics and exotic nightlifes.

When you get paid, I'd say shelter and food are at the top. You gotta have a roof over your head and enough to eat. After that, utilities are key to keeping things running smoothly. Transportation is important if you need to get to work or run errands, and then insurance is a must for peace of mind. Child costs can vary, but they definitely need to be considered too.

Still cheaper to cook at home, nutritionally better too.

The budget can be reduced according to how much/often/what kind of meat you eat, as well as by elimination of nonessential items.
Yes, meat is the biggest cost at the supermarket locally, always was, and apparently always will be

When budgeting it's the small things spent on daily that add up over the course of a month. In 2020 I was unemployed for a long while and decided to cut back. Used to buy newspapers at $8 and a lucozade at $11 everyday. Decided to stop that and just buy papers on Sunday, plus since I'm home I didn't need a data plan at $250 a month.
That alone saved about $800 for the month

Save no less that 20% of your income. If that's too steep, you need more income.

PAYE, NIS and HS is deducted immediately.

Next the SO's to pay my car loan, mortgage, medicals and pension.

Then I pay the internet and phone bills.

Last is the utilities that become due.

The remainder goes in groceries and gas and I'm empty af.

Wife pays PAYE, NIS and HS and the balance of the funds are dumped into our joint ac.

At this time, because of the new loan we took, we can't manage to pull off a 20% savings all the time so.
