Speaking of Bull Shannon there's a night court remake that premiered this year. Gonna check it out later, trailer looking good. John Laroquette one of the last few survivors of the original series stars in it

Heard when it was announced but I never kept up with it. Thought it got quietly axed in production like the Powerpuff Girls live action show.

You remember the John Laroquette show? Used to air on TV6 a long time ago. That was funny and experimental. For a while there was a once per episode running gag of an actual elephant in the room that all the characters never saw. Lasted 4 seasons, though I'm sure TV6 didn't broadcast an entire season.

Friends isn't for everyone, but you know who can't shut up about it?

everyone who isn't into Friends. it's like friends is meat, and not watching it is being vegan

Friends viewers are either super fans or detractors. I found it enjoyable but was just a casual fan who had the hots for Jen and Courtenay.

Sitcoms I liked were the New Adventures of Old Christine, Living Single, Wayans Bros, the John Laroquette Show, Allo Allo, Frank's Place, The Jamie Foxx Show, Sanford & Son and Family Matters before it jumped the Urkel shark.

I hated Big Bang Theory. Under the guise of pandering to nerd culture it held the door open for normalising man children.

we all can agree that not everybody will like d same stuff as others & that is fine but friends has been among d few shows that had\still has such mass viewership\appeal to all sorts of ppl around d world even in none english speaking countries even after it ended almost 20 yrs ago, if u google u will see its still among d highest revenue earners of all time

i am not any sort of superfan or fanatic, it like many other shows was on tv at a time when there was only 1 tv station, then 2,3 & b4 cable came along that i watched while growing up & simply liked it ...

not criticizing yall but jes IMO :

old christine - coming from seinfeld gotta like julia in this show, it wouldnt be relatable to alot of ppls situations but good writing, acting & entertaining enough

living single - never heard of it

wayans - watched some, i not a hater but it didnt appeal to me, kinda same with boondocks too

john larroquette - if u were a Night court fan then u watch john's show too, was good\entertaining

allo allo - 1 of d GOAT, if somebody eh like dat then somtin rong wid u

franks place - never heard of it

jamie fox show - had 0 appeal to me & never cared for it

sanford n son - was good\entertaining with alot of stuff that ppl nowadays wud find offensive, same with jeffersons, good times, 227 etc all good though

family matters - was okay but got kinda irritating\boring when d sad music started playing when somebody did wrong & began apologizing\owing up to their wrong or feelings were hurt kinda sad sap thing ... same reasons i couldnt stand FULL HOUSE

BBT - thats a kinda weird view about it, i loved it cause it was unlike anything b4 & still relatable to alot of modern smart educated ppl in their situations

married with children - no other has its dry racy humor stuff nobody did b4 & will ever attempt to do cause ppl nowadays wouldnt let it slide , 1 of d GOAT

Night court - saw it when it was current, was entertaining back in d day ... took in d new show few mths back when it came out, they tried hard making it like d ole 1 but after watching about 5 episodes it jes doesnt have d same appeal to me

cheers - was highly rated in its days, if u ole enough or seen reruns of it, i wouldnt say rel bess but imo decent, ... for me i liked frasier more, havent seen his new reboot show yet

the office - usa version [never seen d original british version] , not a big fan of it but was decent

a few kinda recents i like :
Superstore - very similar to d office

Brooklyn Nine-Nine - silly but likeable laughable charters & situations

Everybody hates chris - seriousness with silliness family sitcom, has a family guy kinda feel with its cut away scenes

The Middle - kinda dry comical family situations comedy series, even though i never cared for d lead lady when she was in every loved raymond [not me never like that show] she is a good lead in this ... like most shows gotta start watching from 1st episode to get familiar with it

curb your enthusiasm - if u like seinfeld then u dun kno

young sheldon - cause of bbt ...

Was into most of the black sitcoms of that time... Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Wayans Bros, Martin, Living Single, Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, Sister Sister, Parent Hood, Cosby, Malcolm & Eddie, In The House, Steve Harvey Show.

Outside of that was Boy Meets World, Full House, Home Improvement, The Nanny, Fraser, Suddenly Susan and Ellen.

Yeah Married With Children is one of the GOATs... a ripoff was Unhappily Ever After with the stuffed bunny but it was actually good.

Chandler and Ross were amazing in those seasons, pity to me see what's happened to me Mathew Perry.

Suffered with many addictions and depression over the years.

Man told God he wanted to be famous and he did not care about the price he had to pay - well he paid a heck of a price.

And before Duane gets on my case with "sauce":

“Out of nowhere, I found myself getting to my knees, closing my eyes tightly, and praying. I had never done this before.”

Perry said his prayer was simple. He simply asked “God, you can do whatever you want to me. Just please make me famous.”

“Three weeks later, I got cast in ‘Friends.’ And God has certainly kept his side of the bargain — but the Almighty, being the Almighty, had not forgotten the first part of that prayer as well,” he wrote.

Matthew Perry's death affected me more than I thought it would.

I loved Friends. I guess his death seems like an era also dying. Feels like Chandler is dead. Friends was one of those shows that you put on just to have a laugh ten years later.

He was a master at sarcasm and dry humour; a shame that never extended to the big screen.
Some scenes which come to mind are the pivot scene, the electric drill scene, and when Phoebe pretends to seduce him.

He was a master at comedy and him dying is a stark reminder that we're getting older & closer to death.

Perfectly alright to have emotions for the passing of somebody that added some value to your life, even if they weren't a personal acquaintance.

Matthew Perry's death bothers me as much as Wayne Static's did. Both had a history of drug abuse and were clean and recovering when their time came. And imagine that; November 1 will be 9 years Wayne's been gone.

Many of us (myself included) grew up on Friends, hate or love it, it's had a HUGE impact on shaping our present western culture....for good or bad.

Losing Mathew Perry feels a bit like losing Chester..... something or someone that has a had a huge impact on your life is now gone.

Also, something about Chandler's character speaks to many of us, he was the most self aware character poking fun at the others. So in a way he was us, the audience, whole the others were the characters we watched and made fun of.

any skilled, talented, beloved actor\singer\entertainer\sportman\celeb wud resonate with millions of ppl world wide, no shame in expressing sadness for their death

even adele & charlie puth paid tribute to him in their concerts over d wk end gone

on fb there are posts with pre-friends interviews where he openly admitted he had substance abuse even during d filming of d show [come to think of it even when d show was current i really find he looked dry\run down\old compared to d others remembering how young he used to look] , he even built a rehab clinic to help others ... no disrespect to d man - alot of celebs go thru this, many of them hide\deny it

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Perry

even though he had a minor role in friends : lets not forget GUNTHER - James Michael Tyler (May 28, 1962 – October 24, 2021) who died of cancer ... he too did his job well on d show
