the man is 84 years. It very possible he ent realize the law change from 16 years to 18 years being the age of consent.

yuh also have to remember old man like that grow up in a time when "after 12 is lunch" was a popular refrain. Worse yet when they are men with power and position so their own male-centric voice is the voice of the authority in society.

we never had a 'me too' movement despite our social climate being far worse for women. At some point, hopefully, all this crap will come frothing up and big men will fall down for all to see.

Something feels suspicious about this case. There's no way someone as rich as this man doesn't settle this situation out of court without having to make this thing go public. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread that it could be a failed extortion attempt by the 17 year old and her family. The old man probably didn't want to pay up $$$ and they went to the police and the rest is history.

Again...for the fellas that lack confidence, knowledge and experience with women....keep your distance from women if you cannot handle yourself.

If you are unsure....keep 6ft apart at ALL times and never be alone with the individual of concern. Take no chances and always keep phone records, conversations and camera footage. And yes, this is the extent you must go to protect yourself if you are incapable of avoiding situations.

Be careful out there.

Emile Elias claims innocence of sexual offence charges

SEXUAL ASSAULT accused Emile Elias “completely refutes” the two charges against him and looks forward to proving his innocence.

The 84-year-old was charged late Wednesday night with sexual grooming and sexual penetration of a minor.

According to the charges, Elias, owner of NH International, which has several contracts with the Government including the construction of the Carenage Police Station, is accused of meeting with the then 17-year-old girl between September 1 and November 30, 2019 with the intent of grooming her for penetration.

On November 21, 2019, it is alleged that Elias, of Fairways Maraval, penetrated the child.

The offences are alleged to have taken place at his office at Long Circular Road, St James. He was granted $100,000 bail at the West End Police Station on Wednesday night to cover both charges and will appear virtually before a Port of Spain Magistrate on March 24.

In a media statement on Thursday afternoon, Elias, through his publicist, Alfred Aguiton, said he “looks forward to establishing his innocence under the due process of law. Given the fact that the matter is now before the courts and therefore sub-judice, Mr. Elias is unable to make any further comments.”

Newsday called and messaged the Prime Minister, Housing Minister Penelope Beckles and Udecott chairman Noel Garcia but up to 6 pm received no response to questions posed. Elias, a former president of the Family Planning Association is a friend of Dr Rowley.

The laws in Trinidad are made by the slavemasters to keep the slaves in check.
Slavemasters don't obey their own laws.
This could have easily been swept under the carpet but somebody more powerful than him didn't want it to go away.

This makes no sense and seems like a set up...why risk it with a 17 yo when 18+ are so abundant and willing?

This seems like revenge,the man has had many a battle over his career ..and won many as well,leaving a bitter taste in many mouths..while being very vocal and transparent.

One and one is two, 17 plus one is 18...this man's company has done some world class work here and abroad, he must have some wits about him and some serious organizational skills ,surely he could organize his sex cravings and appetite in a legal way or even like business transactions with the many available confidential options these days,you can even have young professional nookie delivered to your home or business now and they won't get out of line..

Why risk it especially when you've been walking around with a target on your back your whole business career ?

Likely he draw a line and she decide to call a shot.

Most 17 year olds will run a mile if someone over 30 look at them.
