There will be a predictably sharp increase of eye doctor visits within the next 2 weeks due to solar maculopathy.

I think NASA said they streaming it, so don't stress if you miss it in person.

Was thinking this is a bad idea however found this article
http://www.chicagotribune.com/bluesky/o ... story.html
But just as staring at the eclipse could cause permanent eye damage without special protection, is there danger of burning out your smartphone’s camera sensor? NASA says probably not — but there are still dangers involved without proper equipment.

Mine nit good for arc welding at all. Only good enough for plasma cutting. Probably good enough for aluminum welding, but have not tried.

So far, I've seen totality about 5 different times live streamed. Even seen the iss pass in front of the sun with 40% coverage with the moon.

With all the solar flares seen on the cameras, I suspect seeing it in real would be mind blowing.

Like 1/4 of the sun covered right now. Camera and phone not getting it, even through the welding mask. But pin hole cards board showing it.

Saw this, wasn't taking it on but I happened to peep outside through the lunch room, had some nice clouds around it blocking most of the glare so i took a chance to watch.
