Leaning towards the Cruze, getting a 2013 for $105k. That's $75k less for 2 years driving, I can live with that. Fully loaded and safer features than the Japanese brands. Oh and half the price of a new Corolla...

The Cruze is a nice car. I've always liked it. But the possibility of having to park it up and wait on parts out of the US in the case where something unexpectedly gives out worries me.

From my limited research and enquiries at auto parts shops it seems that parts are not readily available. Lifestyle does stock certain parts but at a higher price.
I was at Faiz once when someone came asking for Cruze parts and they literally at de man and tell him to push it in de labasse yes.

i guess it's a car for those who can afford to maintain, which means big bucks for parts once in a while...

Yep, you can get genuine Cruze parts online at decent prices. Routine maintenance parts like filters, brakes and even suspension parts are easy to find, especially for the model with the 1.8L engine.

The 1.6 tiida (local) is a waste as it runs on Premium and the foreign used 1.5 @ $92,000.00 is robbery. I was checking out Suzuki SX4 local used but the FIL decide to go with FU Tiida because it is not a "speed car" for my wife and the his mechanic insisted that you could get parts in any parlour for a nissan (Though I had a Tiida for 7 years and found this to be untrue).

Tiida windshield was about $12,000.00 new installed at the firm. Cost me about $8,000.00 (installed) at Doubble Z. 307 SW windshield installed is $1,800.00 ... and I might get a lil discount on that :|

You can usually get get the more commonly replaced parts on sites like Amazon or eBay by searching for the part number.

You can get almost anything else from sites like gmpartsdirect.co or similar. There are quite a few of them.

Anybody know the price of a new Honda City? Is it CVT? I have had two friends with problems with their Fit CVT from day one.

yes local used. 30k mileage. 1.6L engine.

there's a 1.8L cruze also for $95k but with 70k mileage.

the things of concern are the resale value in 6-8yrs time and major parts like engine / transmission...it's difficult to project. the current resale value of the Chevys are low but the quality of the new cars now is much better.

Yup, back to dealer, but always straining and slipping on a hill start.

parts for the Cruze should be readily accessible online from amazon and ebay etc etc. You can even talk to suppliers in Miami and ship stuff down because on my many visits to the US they have so much Cruze up there just the same way we have Tiida downhere. Even if you go Europe, Middle East, Asia, Central and South America you will see Cruzes all over. It's a world car for crying out loud. I would be disappointed if LSM is not stocking parts for them though because for all the Cruze's going to service there I would expect that at least they would have motor oil, oil filter, spark plugs, air filters, belts, coolant, basic suspension parts and some body parts etc..but no love lost, its an ecommerce world out there, shop online! Same thing applies to the Civic, Elantra, Sentra, Lancer, Cerato, Focus and Jetta for the most part.

not concerned with those minor parts, rather uncommon stuff like sensors, and to a lesser extent mounts, suspension parts, shocks, A/C parts...dont want to have to pay big $$ or have to wait a week or two for US parts.
