The vehicles will need support here...will they set up or go through an agent..which option makes more sense

man, Tesla vehicles are not like the common cars of yesteryear ,you just cant use the same approach,
I think the best way forward support wise is to be employed by Tesla or thru owning shares in the company.
To service these vehicles is different, most issues are resolve online with updates and stuff
and many things are logged such as the door handle jamming or something, the car can be diagnosed remotely by tesla

for service these are the basics

Annual inspection (or every 12,500 miles)
Replacement parts like brake pads and windshield wipers (excluding tires)
24 hour roadside assistance
System monitoring
Remote diagnostics
Service related hardware upgrades

I don't think they wanna be leaving that up to dealers, they may quicker come to you according to their 21st century service

21st Century Service
All the time. Wherever you are.

We designed Model S to be easy to own. Routine software updates handle most issues without interrupting your life, while annual inspections ensure your car’s long-term health. Model S is also smart: it periodically monitors itself and can alert Tesla, with your permission, to issues so that they can be resolved quickly and easily. Many issues can be resolved remotely, but if your Model S does require in-person attention, you can bring it to a Tesla Service Center, or have your car picked up in exchange for a loaner at no charge with our valet service.http://my.teslamotors.com/service#/service-plans

again! Tesla has shown no indication that they are willing deal with agents or dealers in the same way as its done with the conventional car
