I have an AppRadio 3 over a year now and it is incredbile:
• Capacitive Touch multi-touch screen (pinch to zoom etc)
• Full Navigation, comes with GPS built-in
• Runs WAZE on the deck
• Works with SIRI (has SIRI Eyes Free) and Google voice commands ("Call Jill" or "Read my messages" or "remind me to buy bread") without touching your phone. Have your text messages read to you and reply to the text message by speaking the reply to the car radio.
• built in bluetooth
• AppRadio Live brings calendars, reminders, notifications straight to your car radio screen.
• Considerably cheaper than flagship navigation head units that cannot even compete with Waze in T&T
yes, very well too.Mark! wrote:Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:if you use an Apple or Android smartphone:

Duane, does iTunes radio work on this unit?

no problems connecting the appradio 3 to the iphone. Yes you need a cable since the head unit gets a HD signal from the phone for video output. Complaining about that is like complaining that a PS4 needs a HDMI cable as a Con.Mark! wrote:I'm also in the market for a head unit.
After doing some research I have a little dilemma.
Here are some of the pros and cons that have concerned me.
I was interested in the Appradio 3 but there are some things that bother me.
Cons
• I have read some people experience problems in connecting iPhone to the unit itself.
• You also need to purchase extra cables for the connection (beyond Bluetooth connectivity).
• A lot of Apps including waze are not yet(not sure if will ever be) supported for iOS 8.
• There is no AUX input (jus in case iPhone connectivity is shot to hell).
well it doesn't really have much to do with the installer. The phone can connect to the headunit with an HDMI cable, so it is no more confusing than connecting it via a headphones cable to the AUX. Just get an HDMI cable, plug it into the deck and plug it into the phone. Since a phone does not have a full size HDMI port you will need an adapter that goes on the phone (either miniport or lightning depending on the phone), it's not rocket science. Americans writing reviews think that everything should come in the box when you buy the headunit, I'm sure some of them complain that they didn't get a phone in the box with the headunit too!Mark! wrote:Well thats kind of a relief to hear cuz i was really keen on this unit, but online reviews had me a bit iffy.So once the installer knows what he is doing there should be no problems.
I used my Nexus 4 with no problems. I needed a MHL adapter to be able to plug the HDMI cable into the phone though. Pioneer has a cable kit. Samsung has their own proprietary MHL adapter that you will have to buy separately (yayy Samsung for being difficult).Slartibartfast wrote:Do all of those head units work good with android as well?
