tax alone would amount to $7900.00, I just multiplied $3.95 by the 2000, following the guidelines set above!

Tax per CC is a different $ value for 2000-2499 cc vehicles. I believe it's about $25 per cc. Tax would be $50,000.00 on a 2000 cc engine...

The rates are $ for the first 1599cc
$8 for 1600 to 1799
$15 for 1800 to 1999c
$25 for 2000 to 2499
I think it's $35 for 2500 to 2999 but not sure as I think it changed in the last budget or something.
Above 3000cc and thing the tax is a kidney and piece ah liver n stuff. Read up before you bring een that viper 5.8L

Supra too old to bring in (legally) anyway. That's before you even think about taxes.

You know just to comment on the fact that an individual importer can drive the vehicle with a cover note that uses the VIN number, I remember trying that one day, was just taking the car about 3 houses away to a car wash before going to licensing just when the police pulled me over, trying to explain to them and they acted like that is not allowed , somehow I managed to escape unscathed but never took the chance again ,,,, even to have the tyres and ac inspected I does pay the small fee and have them come do it home .....

it is legal to drive it without plates if u r a private owner but not all officers know about it, when I was coming back from license office with mine a police pull me over by the light house and make me follow him to traffic branch, but at traffic branch his superiors knew about it so they let me leave. when you are driving without the plates make sure to have all documents at hand.

I priced a 36k pound r35 and the added taxes I calculated were close to half million TT. That's not including the CIF value.

What about bringing in a vehicle to use as parts? Are the fees the same? Is the process the same also?

A easier way to get a quick figure for a 1499cc or near car is this...

CIF X 10.35....
Example: $8000USDX10.35 = $82800TTD

Example :Wingroad 1490 cc, $ 8,000 USD CNF Cost out of Japan
(8000 x 6.45) $ 51,600.00
Duty (25%) $ 12,900.00
Motor vehicle tax (1490 x 3.75)
$ 5,587.50
Total cost before vat
$70,087.50
VALUE ADDED TAX
$10,513.13
COST AFTER ALL TAXES
$80,600.63
