Traffic Plan

1) Limit # of cars per named driver/or per household and make it more expensive per purchase. eg: To register first car, 30,000 ,second, 50,000 etc.

2) Revoke all Maxi Taxi rights/lisences for the busroute and takeover the bus route. Reinstate the rail system, with minimal stops between POS and Arima. Interesect these areas to the highway/EMR so pedestrians can walk.
3) Maxi's not allowed in city, big trucks/heavy loads vechiles only allowed to operate before 6am and after 6pm.

4) remove ALL traffic lights on the highway. East /West corridor needs a traffic light system similar to Grand bazzar to sando..i.e. none.
By recovering all the frigging land people squatting on near the highway, and using the road reserves this should be easy enough to construct parallel access roads along the highway.

5) Institute a Toll for private vehicles using the highway during rush hour.

if All else fails....move to tobago.

Making the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway from Grand Bazaar to Cumuto no traffic lights is a shitload of compulsory purchases. and rehousing people. not saying it can't work, but logistically difficult.

What will happen when an accident occurs and the tunnel becomes a macco channel...much less for the impromptu social and security services who respond to these instances...

Only by name is our bus route a "bus route". Private vehicles legal and illegal far outnumber buses.

Didn't I just explain this...

A preliminary design was done in the 1970s or 1980s for a highway called the Southern Link. It came off the Beetham highway at the Barataria overpass and linked to the Uriah Butler Highway just after the Caroni bridge.

A route has been developed for a new highway linking Curepe to Princes Town. It was planned to be east of the existing UBH/SHH.

They could develop the alternative route to Maracas through Caura, basically following the existing foot trail.

We don't need any tunnels for vehicular traffic in Trinidad and Tobago. It's not feasible from a cost-benefit standpoint.

They don't just have a bus route there. It's much more advanced than that.Look at the video.

a tunnel idea i think would be cool for trini is like an eurotunnel-style setup linking trini to bago.

There are many more feasible ways of linking parts of trini that would cost less and frankly be safer.

An alternate route that should be created is for the western peninsular. One way in and out just not good

I did, you fail to see that the management of the bus route is a testament to how something like an express tunnel would be managed. Just like every tom, dick and harry, has a bus route pass, they will get passes for this. How exactly will the toll be enforced? Digitally? Manually? Pass based much like the bus route? Any endeavor, doesn't matter how brilliant will fail as a result of being poorly managed.

Really got to slow walk some folks... :/

The PBR works as an alternative to driving into POS if u live on the East West corridor. The major issue is traffic on a morning between San Juan and Morvant. Only way around that would be an overpass to remove the traffic light at Morvant intersection.

The other issue of crowds at City Gate on an afternoon could be managed better with using more than 1 terminal for Arima & forcing ppl to form lines like the PTSC crowd does.

There must be alternate routes or causeways on the major roads . That Southern Link was a great idea . If implemented now it would take away some of the need for major expansion works outside on a Curepe and Piarco over pass in the East .

Caura to Maracas is a good idea . Anyone coming from the East has to come down to Curepe , San Juan or Maraval to get to the North coast. Up grade works to the Arima by pass road /Blanchisseuse road is also an option .

This area is similar to the Main Ridge reserve road in Tobago . As it passes through or near to the habitat of many species of birds and other animals . It should be restricted nature reserve , along with the Lopinot to La Laja trace .

Tunnel is a pipe dream really not needed in these parts
