Be more specific to which ones are slow and unresponsive.

Surface 2 for me. Not a single regret and I have used all three.

Leisure only --> iPad then Android

Business only --> Surface

Business + Leisure --> Surface then Android

Ipad is a toy imo... it's for candy crushers, budding artists and executives that like to pretend to work.

I'd rather not use a tablet for work, but if you must... Surface 2. I find the note glitchy and ipad is just seems too limited if you use a PC. Otherwise.... not taking away from ipads build quality or aftermarket support tho. the surface is heavy and runs a bit hot but for functionality... it's tops right now.... sans my complaints of how stupid windows 8 seems :-/

The target market we are catering for are individuals in their high 40's all the way up to their early 60's. With that said we considered build quality and reliability. They will be ordering the iPads for them. Not surprisingly the folks in IT use mostly the Galaxy and some have the iPad. Since the Surface is relatively new we do not know anyone who uses them but the initial feedback I got is some end-users are not willing to have another Windows device. Having a Windows based Server and a Windows laptop is good enough but for SmartPhone and Tablet they choose otherwise.

The constructive feedback on this thread continues to be well received/appreciated.

wait is the surface 2 the normal RT model or the Pro? There is a very big difference in the two? I will always say the Pro, its a real laptop in the form factor of a tablet. If you comparing to the Surface Rt then go Ipad.

I'd put my vote to the iPad
for the following reasons:

Apps
While the Google Play Store is excellent, it doesnt have a great deal of tablet optimized apps. Most are designed for smartphones and their screen sizes. This is also why Devices like the nexus 7 end up being so decent, because at 7" the screen just manages to handle those apps decently.
If your looking in the >7" range, I'd say go iPad. The dedicated amount of apps is staggering, support is there.

Work
Also, Ive never had trouble doing work on the iPad. But its not something I could not have jumped into right away. After a little setup, and making a few changes here and there to accommodate the spreadsheet app and so on on the ipad, its been smooth sailing.

Battery
I love this the most about iPads. the battery life is just leaps and bounds ahead of everything else. I hardly ever charge my iPad and its right there even after days and days and weeks at a time of standby.

What honestly do iPad users do regarding work ? Most iPad users that I know are children... lol... the businessmen only seem to use it for email and taking truncated notes... which you can do on a phone.

Even my android tablet purchased for work has been relegated to after hours playtime....i walker the surface which was a weak attempt... surface 2 is better and honestly the windows integration makes it the winner in my book.

What productivity apps do the Apple fans really use ?

my work doesnt require anything other than a spreadsheet and word processor.
I cant do all of my work on it
But then again I dont want to use any tablet for all my work.
at the end of the day, even the surface can't do what a full Desktop (not laptop) can. Not without quite a few add on accessories.

But its fine for generating Invoices, quotations and so on. So it is useful for work

The Surface RT will be classed with the other two because of it's limitations, in which case, no.
The Pro will do much more.
What my ipad couln't do outright, my Galaxy's doing it now easily, so work wise i'd choose an android over the ipad.

iPad has tones of business and productivity apps. Android has quite a few as well but not all are optimised for tablets as yet. The surface is currently a better touch screen laptop than it is a tablet because of the lack of apps. It is a very good device though. My advise would be to think of the apps that you need to use and search the various app stores to see what is available.

So I gather even with iWork some of you all still prefer the others over the iPad for productivity? How much productivity apps do you really require since everything can be stored in the cloud? For vpn and essential productivity together with stability and security of iOS the iPad appears to be the choice for the older folk.

iPad is used by more businesses, universities, laboratories, hospitals, job sites etc than any other tablet worldwide - why you would want to use anything else?

http://www.apple.com/ipad/business/profiles/

With iWork and iCloud, even Google Apps on your iPad there is no real need to pay for MS Office for doing your work in Word, Excel or PowerPoint - you can do it on your iPad.
