He shouldn't have shut the vehicle off right away esp in that area.gives away that the gps is installed and the bandits have an idea of what to look for already.

Which model nze came green? Was it refinished? If so it may be easy to spot

So these gps systems don't send out a panic signal?so the owner could know it is being tampered with,I could recall when I got a call years ago of one of our hilux sending out a panic signal to the recovery company,I told them my brother has the vehicle,they still tracked it to his home,they found it in its parking spot,hidden that is.Sister in law was scared seeing guys with guns in front their home oui.When it is time to tune up the system,I always hide the vehicle and tell them to track it down to do their stuff to make sure I am good to go,just my 2 cents eh.

if something is being tampered with it would send a tamper alarm NOT panic.
Panic is is trip the system to alert bystanders to your distress situation. tampers are usually a silent alarm designed to alert the user and the monitoring station that the system is being tampered with
