gastly369 - That's overkill for my needs, just like the other AC ASUS one I posted.

I ordered the ASUS RT-N66U a while ago.

No thanks, never saw any of them in my search I think. This ASUS buy is a great buy. I'm satisfied with it and my friend was telling me some of the cool things I can do with it too.

before u purchase anything, maybe we can fix the problem u are having right now.

what type of router?
how far are u from the router? (when u get poor signal)
what type of laptop + operating system?
which ISP?
how many WIFI devices connected?

.....or if u dont want to u can always purchase another router to act as a access point or WIFI (range) extenders.

Why don't you ran a long enough rj11(Telephone cord) to downstairs and connect the modem your self. That should be less than $100

^^^ agreed.

u can get a cord in any electrical store (maybe computer store). I'm sure u can get it crimped (ends) wherever u buy it.

usually it is advised that you place your wifi router upstairs as you get better signal coverage throughout the house from there. However if there is alot of steel or other things causing interference such as a cordless phone that operates on the same frequency then you will have problems with your wifi.

I have the tp-link archer c7 router. it works pretty damn good. its not the newest model but the price is fair and it performs pretty well. the c8 is also pretty good

Range extender will work or Buy a cheap router and set it to repeater mode.. Using your router with TSTT dsl is the worst. I give up tryin to use my Asus RT ac88u on tstt dsl..
