No bail for accused bank robbers
Story Created: Feb 8, 2013 at 9:46 PM ECT
Story Updated: Feb 8, 2013 at 9:54 PM ECT
THREE men appeared in court on Wednesday charged with last week's armed robbery at the Point Fortin branch of Republic Bank.
Labourer Kiel Paul, 21, of Sobo Village, La Brea, mason Andyson Nash, 26, of Hollywood, Point Fortin, and mason Akiel Farrell, 21, of Salazar Trace, Point Fortin, appeared in the Point Fortin Magistrates' Court before Indrani Cedeno.
They are charged with robbery with aggravation.
The Magistrate denied them bail and advised them of their rights to apply to a judge in chambers.
The ruling was made after the magistrate heard from police prosecutor, acting Inspector Angus Harry, that the three men were on bail for a similar offence and that police only recovered $17,725 of the $100,170 that was stolen. It is alleged that on February 1, armed with guns and a cutlass, the men robbed the bank at Techier Road.
