When an item is on sale, don't you see "you save $x" on your receipt next to said item? My itemized receipt from Xtra foods normally has that.

Is it that prices are expected to be 15% less for the items in question ?
eg, should one expect Hagen Daz to be 15% less across the board ?

Or should the decrease be more if there was overall markup going from importer to supermarket then to customer (two markups) ?

Is there such a list?? There is no price control on food items afaik, whatever price they put you either buy it or leave it

I checked with Marketing and Distribution - that image is misleading

the first bill is for Chunk Tuna in Water, the second is for Chunk LIGHT Tuna in Water which is more expensive and the 3rd bill is for Chunk Tuna in OIL which is even more expensive

so it is three different products with 3 different SKUs

M&D has not changed prices on Tuna and by extension HiLo has not changed prices.
Both companies are part of the Neal & Massy Group.

i used to buy the bumble bee chuck light tuna in water(don,t like the oil sheit)from hi lo,price was $7.99 it went up at the beginning of this month $11.00,have not bought it & will not buy at this robbery price. the price of haggen das ice cream, the smallest size went from $11.00 to $14.99  third world grand theft food :(

Price gouging is real btw I personally know of 2 importers/wholesaler who have issued memos to their accounting/sales staff to raise their products by 10%, 3 weeks prior to Nov 15th, this was an arbitrary increase not tied to any increased costs on their end, thus when VAT is removed you will only be saving 5% versus 15% on their products and they will see a 10% profit increase

Took out both picks Friday 30th

First pic is a china grocery store in Couva I removed the white stickers to show the old prices

Second pic is from JTA Couva where new price is $8.99 down from $10.49

So far I have checked in all the Chinese grocery stores and none have dropped VAT an they play dumb when u ask them. Blaming language barrier

I've noticed for sure that the price of some of the 100% juice in TruValu increased since the announcement was made in the budget, so now that the VAT supposed to be removed you pay about the same price it was before...therefore no difference

In Pricesmart I did notice that chicken prices has gone up since last month...haven't been there since...
