Four accused of rape to return to court in Feb

Four men were brought before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate yesterday in separate incidents charged for rape and sexual assault. All four matters were called before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal Gafoor in the Seventh Magistrates’ Court.
In the first matter, a 47-year-old man of Petit Bourg, San Juan, was charged with two counts of incest with his 13-year-old daughter, which took place on January 1, and January 6. He was not called upon to enter a plea, and he was remanded in custody until separate accommodation arrangements could be made for his daughter.
Next, 18-year-old Sean Lewis of St James pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, grievous sexual assault, and indecent assault.
He was also charged for receiving $1,500 worth of stolen items. The incident was said to have taken place on January 7. He was granted bail at $130,000.
Also, Kevin Barclay and Mikail Jobity were both charged, in separate incidents, with having sex with a minor.
Barclay was charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl, while Jobity was charged with having sex with a girl under the age of 14.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges and were both granted bail at $30,000.
All four matters are expected to be recalled during February.
