Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:^ then that's not OEM

OEM means its the same part, just one is branded Nissan and the other is branded by the actual company who makes the item for Nissan.

I did an investigation and in my case the windscreen they were claiming to be OEM which was made by a company that makes the actual OEM part was a totally false.

The company that actually makes the OEM windscreen was not what they were selling.

^ that is a substitute then, not OEM.

"An original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, manufactures products or components that are purchased by another company and retailed under that purchasing company's brand name.[example made by Stanley but stamped with Nissan's logo.] OEM refers to the company that originally manufactured the product. When referring to automotive parts, OEM designates a replacement part made by the manufacturer of the original part" - Wikipedia

Had to change my front windshield by DZ last year after got a stone chip from the highway. I reached about 7 and got back my car by 12 noon.
Installation wasn't bad. Workmanship was good. A little messy but good.
Similar to a previous post the replacement glass fogs up as soon as the weather gets a little cold but other wise visibility is good.

Recently I went by my straightener to discuss repainting my car when he looked at the windscreen and asked me when last I replaced it because from his view the windscreen had dropped downwards.

i had to replace civic windscreen, took about 4 or 6 weeks for them to get an original windscreen (was insured for 12 or 14k i think) so i was waiting until original. they offered me a 2 ply substitute if i didnt want to wait

went double zee like 6 am to be the first person, when they finished they then tell me i hadda wait a 3 hours for it to cure before i could drive
they didnt put back the hose for my wiper fluid either so had to reconnect that myself

but all in all, good service

one thing tho, double zee claimed for 12k from tatil,
when i was in tatil office i heard the rep telling double zee how much my max claim could be

but when i call double zee on my own to find out price, they charge 8k for the windshield installed

guess double zee and tatil rep make a small thing for demselves

That is what they claimed.. pilkinton or some other.. can't remember right now and too lazy t go and check... maby after lunch. Like I said, I think it either deformed or it was a warped part was installed. The glass is just as clear, easy to wash and does not fog up... same as the original Nissan Tiida glass.

Without wanting to create a new topic.

The seal around my rear windshield is coming out and it needs to be re-installed. It's a lucino and will be using back my current glass. Basically, Double Zee is charging $900 and coming across this, want to know if after so much time has passed, anyone can give any advice on if they're worth it or not. Any other suggestions/references will be welcomed as well.

My two experiences...
1. Libero front windshield, I had two options: $1800 OEM or $850 substitute. I went for the OEM. Window installed was Plinkington and not OEM. It fogs quickly and long story short pardner came two weeks later with same windshield on his evo 3 and paid $850.
2. Subaru Back windshield $5000, OEM (so they claim) Massy $2200 (original but non is stock) bobbys $ 1850 (installed in car they replaced the rubber molding too).
