actually it goes deeper than that. The Molarians require toasters with adjustable slots for bagels n such. When these weren't forthcoming, the Molarians showed the Guats just how big a slot they could open in retaliation

To appreciate the true depth of this situation, one must go down to the bottom of the problem.
Seems when the Guats began laying the foundation of their superterranean structures, they disturbed the upper crust of Molarian society. Hence the demand for crust-inducing stainless steel kitchenware. Now that the Molarian population is increasing, the demand for said kitchenware has risen beyond the means of the Guats to supply.

Negotiations over the plan to supplement with coal pots and hot plates did not go down well with the Molarian High Council. After the breakdown in talks, the Molarians set their lower caste Molites to the task of undermining the Guats infrastructure.

Latest reports are that there are now calls for unilateral talks, but both parties are yet to agree on any sort of middle ground to start negotiations

The newest story coming out of Guatemala is that talks are not going as well as expected.
The Molarian Society has made demands that all toasters must be KitchenAid. The Guats have tried reasoning with the Molarians explaining the negative economic impact this would have on the country. The Molarians simply won't settle for less as they explained that in the past the Premier toasters were faulty and too much earthworms were spent hiring the Molees to repair said toasters.
Rumor has it that the Molarians will deploy Destructo-Molees if the Guats fail to comply. This is yet to be confirmed.
