Forget the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers — Research In Motion is hoping the BlackBerry 10 will be the main attraction at next month's Super Bowl.
The company today confirmed that its new mobile operating system will be featured in a Super Bowl XLVII commercial — a first for the Canada-based company.
RIM kept mum about details of the 30-second ad, saying only that it will air in the U.S. and Canada.
"A Super Bowl commercial is a great opportunity to show the re-designed, re-engineered and re-invented BlackBerry to tens of millions of consumers on the largest advertising stage of the year," RIM's chief marketing officer, Frank Boulben, said in a statement.
The announcement kicks off a week of worldwide launch activity, leading up to RIM's BlackBerry 10 platform official launch event on Jan. 30 in New York City.

bess! you do the editorials etc on triniberry? or just app design etc?
i've found triniberry to be quite a useful site. kudos on that man.
/if/ bb10 can have better apps on launch than wp8 or at least earlier on in the game... than wp8 and wp8 honestly didn't do to bad, I'd say it looks good for at least enterprise users at least locally. Some companies won't switch from bb for reasons like what MG described and if BB10 holds true to what is leaked, it's not looking bad at all.

you mean "pull", android and iphone pull email from the server, they don't have true push email

you set how often it checks for email
unlike RIM devices that have emails pushed

Not true. Gmail and hotmail apps support push.

Nope, using a Microsoft Exchange server on iPhone or just the regular old Gmail app on Android you can setup push Gmail. Every time I get an email, my iPad and S3 beep almost instantly. Sometimes even before Blackberries (tried it for fun already back when I had a BlackBerry and iPod). It's proven very reliable for me. Never missed one thus far.

People say that, but i don't know why since Android and iOS devices do the same thing.

On the topic of BlackBerry and Email, I prefer the fact that on my Bold 9900 i can manage all my email in one app, unlike what my android and iphone do which is to have an email app, then a separate app for different accounts to get the "full" experience such as gmail.

starting with OS5 on BB you could do all your gmail actions from within the messages folder (star/label/archive/etc)

What i miss most though is the keyboard shortcuts to be honest, but BB10 makes up for it with the way the interface is built in the new Hub

What i meant is that if you want the full gmail experience u need to use the gmail app, and not the built in email client. With BB you could access all the Gmail specific functions from the built in client, negating the need for a gmail client.

There is a built in email client that comes standard on iphones and androids that supports push.

I'm not refering to "push" but more to being able to Report Spam, Add star, Archive, Flag, etc for gmail messages from within the native app that comes with the OS.

I obviously expect that more features will get built into the native email clients for iOS and Android of course. but on both platforms i only use the stand alone Gmail client for email, never use the built in email clients personally.
