HTC seems to have the edge on features...and from what gsmarena says like it cheaper too!
The only thing I don't know is how the processors and gpu's of each phone stack up against each other.

hmmm.. quoted from wikipedia:
The Snapdragon application processor core, dubbed Scorpion, is Qualcomm's own design. It has many features similar to those of the ARM Cortex-A8 core and it is based on the ARM v7 instruction set, but theoretically has much higher performance for multimedia-related SIMD operations.

searches say the nexus one gpu supposed to be the shiznit

HTC's market share is going down because of the "lack of innovation"
All android devices seem to be getting licks from Samsung.

Samsung makes smartphone. HTC makes bricks. And moto doesn't make anything anymore that any rational person should buy anyways. You realize most of the Android phones are just sh!t compared to anything Samsung?

People need to get off this Android thing.

It's about the PHONE firstly. And the company behind it. Android is the new thing just like Symbian was. You didn't buy a phone because it was running Symbian (not completely)? You bought it because of the features of the phone, the easy of use, the brand you trust for quality. There are too many phones giving Google's OS a bad name.

I'll say it again...

Samsung makes great phones, not because they are running Android, but because they make better phones !

Hmm since they can do that for all phones... imagine you apply that to a me-too... you could probably take a walk in the Mariana Trench.

well said strauss. android is just an OS. its really about the phone itself.

people on other forums often complain about android, not knowing is bcuz plenty of them have a basic smartphone runnin cupcake.

Sorry, but for me it's OS first, device after, and right now the OS of my choice is Android, but since you guys say it's all bout the device and not the OS, then if these leaks/speculations are true, I hope the Samsung faithful enjoy your new OS

Tizen OS exposed, apparently running on an unknown Samsung 'I9500'

Open-source smartphone OS Tizen rose like a scorched pigeon from the ashes of MeeGo last September, but its taken until now for the first screenshots of the platform to emerge. A cluster of shots were shared with SamMobile, showing a UI that’s markedly similar to pre-ICS Android and even Samsung’s bada. That may be no coincidence, however, since Samsung is one of the leads in the Tizen project, and may be bringing the first Tizen-based device, the Samsung I9500, to market imminently.

Image

The screenshots show a by-now-familiar layout of a notification/status bar running along the top of the screen, a five button shortcut row along the bottom, and a homescreen full of app icons – and presumably widgets – sandwiched in-between. Even some of the iconography is reminiscent of Android, something we can only imagine Google will be “flattered” by.

As for the Samsung I9500, identified via the user-agent of the device used to grab the screenshots, there are suggestions it could debut Tizen as early as at MWC 2012 next month. The shots themselves are 800 x 480 WVGA resolution, perhaps indicating that the I9500 has a WVGA display (though they could, of course, have been resized).

Interestingly, last we heard of the I9500 name, it was in connection to a Galaxy S III rumor when a sample shot attributed to the device was spotted late last year. It now seems the photo was taken not by a third-gen Samsung Android flagship but the first device of a not-quite-brand-new OS.

Image

So the question is, how many of you will buy? "Samsung makes great phones"

I have never heard a loud discussion erupt based on the Sony versus the Motorola versus the HTC, it has, and will always be about the OS and each manufacturers implementation of it, the arguments always consist of Android versus iOS versus WP7 and Sense versus TouchWiz versus Blur versus "Vanilla" android, I don't see how all of a sudden it's all about the "device

Yea so you want an Android phone. But do you go around and just pick up any phone because it's running Android? No you want to buy a phone whose company BRAND makes the best use of Android to the fullest. That company is Samsung. No if's, but's nor maybe.

And I don't see any other company coming close anytime soon to touch Samsung.

If it was really about the OS, then ALL Android phones would be great, but alas it's not the case.

Is your PC automatically awesome because it's running Windows? No man. It's all about the BRAND of the PC you have. The top brand that pumps the most features and takes advantage the most of Windows. (Ignoring DIY).

If Android is now a mature/maturing OS, then it's no longer about the OS. It's about the manufacturers taking it further. And HTC is not that company. Neither is Motorola.

in my case, i bought the nexus s for the pure android experience and quicker updates.
and yeah to a lesser extent it was made my Samsung and has decent features.
so i guess thats the exception to what Strauss is trying to say.

This is my point, Strauss is right, Samsung is the best right now and for the foreseeable future, but if another manufacturer steps up their game (Intel Inside) and makes a device that is IMO better that what anyone else has to offer, I would buy that device.

The SGS2 wasn't even my first choice, but because I had a delay and thanks to Mitch/Swisha, I gave it a solid second look and I came out on top.
