In the story, Joseph who was sold into Egypt becomes the powerful advisor of Pharoah, who is having bad dreams. In one of the dreams, Pharoah dreams of seven fat cows, devoured by seven starving cows. In the second, seven ripe, healthy sheaves of wheat are devoured by seven shrivelled, dry ones. Joseph correctly predicts that this means,
“Immediately ahead are seven years of great abundance in all the land of Egypt. After them will come seven years of famine and all the abundance in the land of Egypt will be forgotten. As the land is ravaged by famine, no trace of the abundance will be left in the land…And let Pharoah take steps to appoint overseers over the land, and organize by taking a fifth part of the land’s produce in the seven years of plenty. Let all the food of those good years that are coming be gathered and let the grain be collected under Pharoah’s authority as food to be stored in cities. Let that food be a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which will come upon the land of Egypt, so that the land may not perish in the famine.”
Joseph’s understanding and forethought enable Egyptians, and ultimately his own family to survive the famine, in which “…there was no bread in all the world.“

I am unsure as to why the 100% increase though. 100% over 5 years sure but 100% in just 1 day?
I asked the owner about this he said the supplier just told him there is a heavy tax imposed on imported channa. Either that owner getting rob big time by the supplier, the owner lying and double the price for spite which I doubt, or price of channa has really increased by 100% across the country.
I will wait for someone else here to confirm if this really is the case elsewhere. If so, then doubles will now cost atleast $7.

We should have learnt our lesson from that and started to diversify in the 90s. Our biggest chance was from 2002-2008 during the 2nd oil boom under the Manning administration. We had another chance under Kamla but little happened.
This recession is worldwide. How long the Saudis and OPEC going to play this game just to hold market share against Shale at the expense of their economies is hard to say. Right now they are outing fires in their own economies with new ones popping up.
If this world recession gets any worse, best believe there is going to be a WAR. From an economic standpoint whether we like it or not, war stimulates oil producing countries. If you pay attention to the US Presidential Race, both sides are not talking about peace. They are talking about who they will stand up too and being antagonistic. This means that whoever is going to be US president in November is going to war. If a war does happen in 2017, T&T would come out the recession for the time being. If that is the case, and we receive a windfall... we better start an aggressive diversification program.

Obama lifting sanctions it seems was part of the deal for iran to convince saudi to slow down its output significantly. oil got a bump because of the expected slowdown. how long though will/can saudi function at lower output.
