^I'm glad that you threw Pele into the mix...

Imho, Messi is essentiallly the Pele of Barca...the star/frontman of a GREAT team...
His style mimics that of Maradona, but his ability to win games on his own doesn't (yet).
That's the ability Maradona had that leaves him incomparable to Messi at this stage...without a supporting cast he could still perform, and did so at the biggest stage (World Cup). Messi hasn't yet been able to do that with argentina, i.e., perform and win games without support...
As kevcam said, Messi still has alot of time to reach that level..whether or not he can fulfil that possible potential we'd hafta wait and see...
Atm though, the press will continue to shine their floodlights on him against the poor la liga defences with one of the greatest midfields to ever play the game behind him, so he will always look brilliant...not saying that he isn't - he certianly is an amazing player, but to really and truly be compared to Maradona, he'll hafta repeat that for his national team.

As for George Best...all the talent in the world like Maradona, but always focused on show boating...i read his autobiography recently, and he said that he'd train by kicking a tennis ball against a crossbar, because everything else became so easy and second nature to him...great individual player yes, but didn't have the maturity to lead a team, and himself, to true greatness...in a sense, he is what Ronaldinho was at Barca during his 'glory years'...when he had a very good team around him, they won trophies...when that team died, so too did his greatness...

^^^3P.M. This afternoon let's all meet back here to give a blow by blow to our comrades less fortunate! Mallorca has been almost impossible to beat at home this season. I consider this a MUST win situation at this stage.

Madrid have a tough derby on their hands, we need to leap frog them NOW!

That Barca/ManU clash in the '99 season in the group stages I think will go down in History as the most epic group stage clashes in modern UCL history.

1st Meeting-Old Trafford

2nd Meeting-Nou Camp
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/w3Lltd_g82c&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed>

EPIC from every angle!

Dawg you really taking your name a little too seriously for my liking.

Sol Campbell vs. Messi

Really?

No Really... Let's be honest here!

No way in HELL is Barca not putting the hurting on them.
I predict a minimum of 2-0 to Barca.

I have spoken.

thanx, i expect a great game today, arsenal imo has a great, dynamic midfield that can cause trouble, but Barca's strong attack shud out pace their defence....however it must be said, for some big games barca tends to become timid an wait till they recieve a goal in they backside to start playin football. They are a second half team an it shud be epic

Zlatan is out with an injury. He's definitely going to miss the return leg of Arsenal vs Barca at Camp Nou
