The thing say if you are in POSSESSION of land. You dont have to be the owner. If u squatting u still have to full it out.

Look like they tryin to feel.out the public. I estimate a 10 years to get it off the ground.

Two things come to mind.

One being that in those deeds many may not be accurate wrt who the current owners actually are. They would find out what deeds not up to date if they did, but I suspect they dodging the manpower problem and cost to the state and how long it would take to complete if they do it.

The other thing I thinking, and this is just an idea eh.

Is a way to test the waters to see if people compliant and submissive enough to take the shaft they want to give the population.

they dont have the man power to pull this off. they will categorize the areas and tax you where you live. lange park will pay more than enterprise, red areas will pay low, yellow high. you can have a shack in west mooring and you will pay the same classification as a big mansion divided with cost per room. a room in every area will be a different cost multiplied by how much room you have, just to simplify the math and collect the tax asap.

Why the rushrush NOW? Of all times, now when most people ketchin' dey tail to cover bills? Ah mean, if the average tax due is say 2500.00, it still hard to scrape that together in 2022 with Covid still around, and every minute lockdown shtt. And next thing back-taxes from 2018 collecting interest too.

Master Mijjit want to quote property tax revenues in the budget owha?

I expect they will contact us, cuz we dropped in all together and they contacted us a few weeks apart...
And those that were newly acquired, we have the yellow receipts from valuations dept and were contacted by valuations for directions to the property, but not sure if they were visited

I thought the same about testing we.

Just to add, I remember the forms was about owner and occupier, so they don't care who there, just whomever there, to pay up.
Like WASA, owner or occupier.

They had said that, they will do a few site visits of top, middle and lower tier for the area, and then clscuslte the ranges, assess all the properties according to thr docmennts submitted, then asign each property a tax based on their sampling.

I think so too
I was looking at the online form
They basically asking you do the ground workfor a valution:
Title verification, instructions on how to measure flat and 2storey homes for area, pics from various angles, number of rooms, baths etc.
They gonna sit on thier PCs and do the valuations remotely based on the info provided
They will do some visits to verify, but from what i see, is a big thiefhead to get the citizens to do the dirty work to save time/manpower

Yup
Basically they demanding that you to help them potentially shaft you with the tax, failing which they plan to shaft you with a fine first, and then the tax.

Squatters required to submit land info to Valuation Division

Squatters, as well as people in possession of certain types of land, even if they don’t own it, will have to fill out the Return form which the Valuation Division has requested.

This was confirmed from reliable Valuation Division sources yesterday, following the division’s recent advertisement calling for the forms to be filled out. These are to be sent to valuationdivision.gov.tt. November 30.

According to the information from sources, defaulters who fail to submit the return to valuation offices around the country stand to suffer a $5,000 fine.

The matter has caused confusion for many members of the public, who do not understand the Valuation Division’s action and the process.

Ask around, theres a certain redidential Tower in the middle of woodbrook that got approval , BUT for some loop hole in the law regarding the time line that it was finished at , the owner is supposedly not mandated to pay the taxes on it.... even though its a tall building its owner cant see over the steerring wheel of a mustang without a booster seat.

Well land owners will have to submit the information. But if it comes to actual tax, that os dependent on the contract. Some contracts have it written that the Lessee is to pay all taxes while in use of property.
