Sigma 10-22mm @ 10mm (Thanks Duane!)

Lovely lil lens. Though I'm lookin at the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX for myself soon.

I love wide angle!

No probs! It's a neat lil lens and good price for what you get. Its an EX Sigma so the quality not that bad.

With DSLRs that have 1.6x crop factors you want to get the smallest number possible when looking for an ultra wide since a 10mm becomes a 16mm.

AN excellent ultra wide is the Canon 10-22mm EF-S. However it will only work on 1.6x crop factor cameras. So it wont work on full frame cameras like the 5D or 1Ds nor will it work on 1.3x crop factor cameras like the 1D.

if you plan on shooting with a Rebel, 40D or 50D etc then this will work great and give you full 10mm

its more expensive than the Signma though and the Sigma will work on all - thats why I bought the Sigma.. I don't know about the Tokina to compare.

The fact you can use the Sigma on any body is a very good point Duane.
More useful for expanding later on.

After reading numerous articles about the Tamron (which I thought was the best), I then stumbled on to this one after some on PT mentioned it. Read dozens of reviews on the Tokina and then this article is what sold me on the it: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tokina/11-16mm.htm

you can read yourself to death really - and never decide what to buy

look at this
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read. ... e=28022907

I prefer the colour on the Sigma over the Tokina and the sharpness. Even though my copy seems to be a lil soft in one corner.

I know we're not supposed to post car pics in here, but its the only thing I've used my Sigma 10-20mm for!

This image was not photoshopped except for a tiny area I cropped out. I took this photo using manual mode, ISO 200 and AWB on a 40D using the Sigma 10-20mm EX.

I used a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS
Image

great great great lens - but 70mm is so damn cumbersome in tighter spaces

the best option is to have two camera bodies one with the above lens and the other with a 24-70mm f/2.8L

ah yes, dreams...

^ kinda the idea i have..if i dont get the price im asking for my Xti, ill end up keeping it and using it at events with a different lens from the other body.....

the canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS is pretty expensive though...i may end up buying the 70-200mm f/4
