saying "connection has timed out".
Doesn't the linksys need to be wired to my laptop via the ethernet connection to configure it? If I do this, then I can't get internet access to access the webpage 192.168.1.254 (because the modem is now no longer connected to the linksys' only ethernet port).

Without the linksys, the only way I can get internet access is via wired connection by plugging the flow modem into my laptop's ethernet port (and if I do this, the linksys can't be connected to my laptop).

Mods - not sure if this problem is digressing from the thread topic - if so I'll create another thread...

^ 192.168.x.x is not on the internet - that is a local IP address

also you CAN configure your wifi router via wifi

most linksys router admin panel address is 192.168.1.1
there are a few with 192.168.1.254

unless you changed it

originalbling wrote:yea Duane, I know i will need an extra cable box.

the monitor is an older flat screen with vga connection only.
then you need a video capture card or tv tuner card - something with a video/audio in via component cables

its a sony 32" HD led, the tv remote controls the PS3 and netflix via HDMI too, so thats cool

now i went better sound,
anybody have good reviews/experience on a good sound bar?
i want something simple and clean with no clutter, doesn't need to be 5.1
just better sound than the built in tv speakers
a powered soundbar might be a good option for the bedroom. Unless you plan to have the clutter of a receiver etc etc in your bedroom, you would need to get self powered speakers.

For the bedroom, unless you watching actual blu-ray discs, I'd just go with a US$94 Apple TV. It's cheap, tiny, will still work with the universal IR part of your TV remote (though the apple TV remote is slick), no fan noise or heating issues and it plays Netflix, movies, music and is excellent at youtube right out of the box. Yes the Apple Tv is only 720p but with a 32" TV you wont be able to tell anyway.

hmmm i could have used the apple tv instead of the ps3, i never looked it up before
my other options were the bluray/dvd players and other devices

anyways too late, already bought the ps3 and hooked it up

so i'm settled on the soundbar, but i was wondering if anybody have any good experience/review with any particular model/brand

dredman1 u have a linksys ACCESS POINT not a router
the default IP address is 192.168.1.245

try accessing it, if that doesnt work

do a reset, hold the reset button for about 15seconds and try accessing the ip again

if that doesnt work connect the access point directly to your pc, you would need to assign a temporary static IP on your PC so that your pc would be able to see the access point eg. 192.168.1.220

to set the static ip
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19249/ho ... windows-7/

or

http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

no need to set the DNS or gateway

once this is done you should be able to access the access point through 192.168.1.245
do your thing
then remove the static IP and hook the access point back to your modem

Thanks guys. Was finally able to get to the WAP54G configuration page with this:
copper_shot wrote:if that doesnt work connect the access point directly to your pc, you would need to assign a temporary static IP on your PC so that your pc would be able to see the access point
But the configuration page doesn't have anywhere to enter the static DNS server fields which usvideo.org needs (unless I missed it which I'm pretty sure I didn't).
Beginning to realise this Access Port is not as functional as a router, and has limited ability to be configured. Gonna try to locate a router and try it again.

Tivo is actually a service that costs US$19.99 per month
their box polls your cable channels and provides a listing of what is showing and when - you then select what you want to watch later and it records it while it's showing. I'm not sure FLOWs channel system will be supported by TiVo either.

FLOW has their own PVR service
http://www.flowtrinidad.com/uwatch/Payp ... fault.aspx

You can get the PVR device from them or you can get your own - it must be the same model they offer to work with their system though.

Basically you go through the channel guide, you can select a show days in advance, set it to record, then once it has shown and is recorded you can watch it at any time, fast forward, rewind and pause - as often as you like.
A PVR also lets you pause and rewind live TV

actually it looks huge on the wall, almost like there is no space for anything else! For some reason everytime I take a photo or video it looks small :| I don't know if it's the camera lens, I shot the first set of photos with an ultra wide angle and I know that would have distorted sizes a bit but I actually shot this video at ~24mm just so that it would mimic the human eye and not be too wide or too narrow. It still looks small in the video though.

yeah around 2500K colour temp

there are dimmable cfl but they are also around 2700K

there are also 3000K and 4000K dimmable LED bulbs but they are about US$50 each, I have 8 bulbs in my HT room ceiling, so taht's too much $$$ for bulbs
