A truck driver was killed when his vehicle skidded off the road and went over a precipice on Wednesday. Seedass Sooknanan, 53, was driving along Murray Trace, Siparia, when he lost control at around 1.30pm.

The vehicle crashed through some bushes and overturned as it went over the cliff. Police said Sooknanan was crushed by the truck. He lived at Woodland. Fire officers and police responded but were up to late afternoon trying to remove the vehicle.

I'm certain TTFS can really assist in that regard with their unmatched experience etc.

So let's see a ten wheeler cost about $7.2 million to move in a similar situation, two 25 ton excavators and rel chain and yuh good to go..

Ok so based on going rates shouldn't cost more than $4.3 million as a 6 wheeler..still more than the price of 2 brand new 325's from CAT though, must be a good deal still I guess..

RIP to MR.Sooknanan..

So is that our police force is understaffed, untrained or uneducated? , or have they returned to sitting down in their stations and doing nothing?
If the only way to get citizens to obey the laws is by having police actively patrolling them like stupid grazing cows, they where are they?

Everytime you post it's some question looking at things from a negative angle. 6 guns has zero to do with understaffing, education or training. Rome wasn't built in a day. Be glad they started somewhere instead of being impatient after all of 2 months. The police service is changing.

Do you view the populace as being patrolled like stupid grazing cows when you go abroad to places like Canada or the US?

Surprisingly we have a pretty good amount of police officers per 100,00. More than most developed countries around 500.

Speeds guns are just the beginning once they eventually move to traffic camera's that's when the fun starts.

So if we can manage to Try and take control of the roadways, then why cant we control the Crime situation? Why cant we have a proper Camera system to monitor ALL major Intersections in Trinidad?

Like you think we living in Germany or Singapore or what?

This is T&T! The elected government tends to be a good representation of the how advanced/progressive the population/society is. If you not in sync with what the governments have done/have been doing congratz you are probably more progressive than the masses T&T. But this is a democracy! So we hadda wait until the masses become more progressive before there can be any major change.

Your options are be the change you would like to see and wait for your example to catch on which may take a while or migrate.

Reports are saying "the bamboo patch is the only thing holding the truck from sliding down into Belmont Secondary School compound and the school block has been evacuated. The truck is leaking fuel down the hill.
The Driver is injured and has a piece of steel pipe through his jaw and up through his cheek and he is being attended to."

Update: Truck driver dies in Lady Young accident
Story Created: Jun 29, 2016 at 11:22 AM ECT
Story Updated: Jun 29, 2016 at 11:41 AM ECT

A major accident on the Lady Young Road has left at least person dead.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 9:30 this morning when the truck breached a steel barrier and drove a short way downhill.

One man died after a piece of steel punctured his throat.

The dump truck, which was carrying a load of material, reportedly tumbled off the hillside and narrowly escaped rolling downhill onto the nearby Belmont Secondary School but was stopped by a grove of bamboo trees bordering the road.

Belmont Secondary School was evacuated as there are concerns regarding a gas leak from the truck.

Police and fire officials are currently at the scene.

Drivers are advised to avoid this road and use alternative routes due to a build-up of traffic in this area.

The crash happened in the vicinity of Hilton Trinidad and Belmont Secondary School. A school block located nearest the crash site was evacuated to ensure the safety of pupils.

Check brakes, check tyres, check blood alcohol level.
Things Police probably need to start looking at after all accidents as a standard.
