Republic Bank will be temporarily changing its banking hours, starting Tuesday December 10, 2019, to facilitate customers in exchanging their old one hundred-dollar bills for the new polymer one hundred-dollar bills.

These are the changes:

Non-mall branches: Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and,

              Fridays 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (no closure during the day).

All mall branches remain the same: Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Select branches will open on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (for the remainder of December 2019):

North: Ellerslie, West Mall, Long Circular Mall, Glencoe, Diego Martin.

South/Central: South Park, Gulf City, Princes Town, Point Fortin, Centre City, Couva.

East: Arima, Valpark, Grand Bazaar, Trincity.

Well meem want my name and address call out dey, but it is 'alleged' that someone had to pay up for a large quantity of cookeen that went missing, and among the pile of money, many fake hunjeds were found, and the owner of the cookeen thought he was being 'played' and robbed again and was already putting plans in action to chop necks and slit throats.

Now if it was your regular barrackpore-ramlal or beetham-qualmie, it would be no second chance for them and they would end up on the news dead the next day.

People need to realize that all these billions of new $100 notes was not printed overnight. It probably was months of planning and printing, then shipping. It is clear that only very few people knew about this. As the central bank governer said the timing is what it is. You didn't expect containers of money to be just sitting in the port waiting for a more convenient time for it to enter circulation. As to why the rush and only 2 weeks, well if fraudulent currency is in circulation they need to get rid of it as soon as possible. But if all monies are to be returned to the bank, the bank would have to check for fraudulent currency on their end ( as they normally do).
Sooo, when an individual goes to deposit his money, would the tellers have to check every single note to see if it is legitimate or would they just put it in the bill counter and not do any manual check. As was said in the news conference there are 80 billion $100 notes in circulation. How much of these is in banks already and how much is on the outside, no one knows.
