Anybody know why there is a new traffic light east bound about 100m from the existing one [closer to KFC]?
They even painted the Yellow Box on the east bound lane.

That's for cars on the westbound side to be able to turn off to go to KFC, Subway, and Valsayn Branch Rd I think it's called.

Yesterday I saw that the steel structure has finally arrived for the bridge crossing. Hopefully they can finish up that project fast.

I drove past there yesterday and I found that the overpass looks a little low. I thought it would be higher than that.

Grand bazaar probably is the lowest . I am surprised when some of the heavy equipment companies get through passing by some of our lower walkovers on the highway

Wouldn't there be a minimum height requirement which I assume is kept to?

Our eyeball probably not the best judge of small differences in height because of perspective etc.

You’re probably right. I just took a quick look on my way from the airport.

USA Interstate standard for all of USA codes for 4.9 meters vertical clearance. UK is 5.03 meters vertical clearance.
BC Canada has 5.0 meters. Alberta is 5.5 vertical clearance.

The maximum height for a vehicle in Ontario is 4.15 meters. Road vehicles in the UK are usually less than 4.5 m tall.

Apparently no set international exact standard. But it should be 5.0 meters for good measure.

Maximum vehicle height is fairly standard internationally at ~4.1 m but minimum clearance changes by virtue of what city you are traveling in and not just what country. I have seen 3.5 m minimum clearance fairly often -- and the trucks that didn't see the warning signs until it was too late.

So apparently the CRH will be closed off at the Curepe intersection and traffic diverted to the PBR tomorrow Sunday.

Closing of parts of the highway just shows incompetence if you ask me...when the interchange in Grand Bazaar was going up, not one day of traffic was stopped

Good point but I think some structural engineers could tell us if there is a difference in how the bridge was pushed over differently for these overpasses. I for sure wasn’t driving under that thing moving . The bridge near the university in Miami that collapsed means I’m waiting until those things properly assembled

news said that it was for safety reasons- they didn't want traffic flowing while these big heavy things were being moved above

Height barriers are at 4.5M noticed some bracing under the actual steel arch, dunno if the bracing makes the clearance 4.5 during construction and 5m after their removal. The height barriers east and west bound make a lot of sense during construction, better to hit than than the overpass

Yup noticed the barriers this afternoon with the 4.5M height and there are some temp framing parts under.
Assume after the construction it should be closer to the 4.9/5M when the temp parts are removed
