Auckland loss just made sure the next match has no meaning. Both Titans and Delhi qualify without needing to playing this final group game. An insipid tournament continues.

Sydney have a best attack (better than even WI test one) Wouldn't bet against them.

Yesterday was a real anti-climax.
Seems as if any 20/20 finals don't have at least a WI flavor it doomed to be lacking excitement.
After team set target score, all I could do was 'steups' and get on with normal daily chores.

The Caribbean might never experience this. There have been floodlights at St Lucia since 2006, Antigua since 2007, Trinidad and Guyana since 2008 and Barbados since 2009. We have had only 2 ODI D/N matches in all that time and only 3 D/N T20s in the 2010 T20 World Cup. Because of our time zone Day night matches are not favourable to the television markets of the Indian subcontinent and England and RSA.

I would be very surprised if this impacts us in the Caribbean as we continue to not use floodlights for any international matches.

Just a closing rant.....Australia has the best cricket and in general some of the best sporting facilities in the world. Yet they have hosted the 50 over World cup once in 1992 and they are scheduled to next host it in 2015. They have never hosted the Champions Trophy or T20 World Cup. The next 2 T20 WC will be held in Bangladesh and then India. Even the club Champions League is not scheduled for Australia anytime in the future even though they are one of the shareholders.

The Indian television market ensures Australia and West Indies due to time zones difference would always be marginalized with tournaments.

WICB strikes seven-year broadcast deal with TAJ TV

Story Created: Nov 1, 2012 at 10:03 PM ECT
ST JOHN'S

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) yesterday announced that Taj TV Limited has acquired television broadcast rights for West Indies cricket for a period of seven years, from January 2013. Taj TV has acquired global television broadcast rights, except for the terrestrial broadcast rights within the Caribbean, along with production rights. As part of the deal Taj TV Limited will be providing the television production for free-to-air stations throughout the Caribbean for the benefit of West Indies cricket fans. Taj TV will be showcasing 253 days of international cricket as part of the new rights deal.

"We are extremely delighted to continue our long standing association with Taj TV Limited who has been our media rights partner previously and with whom we have had a solid and mutually beneficial relationship," president of the WICB, Dr Julian Hunte said.

"The West Indies team has just won the ICC World Twenty20 and the diverse cricket world who hold our team in high esteem will have added demand to see them play in the ensuing years. We are therefore pleased that we have secured this arrangement with this globally reputable company to distribute the media rights to allow fans around the world to see our champion team live and in living colour as they make further strides in world cricket," Dr Hunte added.

The parties have agreed, on account of confidentiality clauses, not to publicly disclose the monetary value of the contract.

Glad to see transparency took center stage.
Now just to wait and see when WIPA comes out for their pound of flesh.
