USMNT Player Ratings from a scintillating blowout of Trinidad and Tobago
The United States men’s national team simply throttled Trinidad and Tobago in Jacksonville on Tuesday, breaking through before halftime en route to a 4-0 win.
The win gives the Yanks the top spot in Group C heading into the Hex, meaning it will open the final round of World Cup qualifying at home against Mexico on Nov. 11.
The way they looked on Tuesday, USMNT fans will be saying, “Bring it on”.
USMNT Starting XI
Tim Howard — 8 — With loads of respect to a pure pro in Brad Guzan, I have no idea how this man doesn’t start against Mexico.
Fabian Johnson — 7 — The U.S. is better off when he doesn’t have the defensive responsibilities of a left back, but also doesn’t have many options at left back.
Omar Gonzalez — 5 — Wasn’t tested much once the second half hit, but not amongst the U.S. bright lights.
Steve Birnbaum — 6 — Didn’t have much to do.
Geoff Cameron — 7 — Bright when called upon, and man he gets down the field quick for a big man.
Christian Pulisic — 9 — Exceptional, stunning, electric, dynamic… We’re running out of shining adjectives.
Michael Bradley — 6 — Had his stumbles getting into the flow early, but showed his typical clever passing as the game wore on.
Sacha Kljestan (Off 73′) — 7 — Entirely capable of succeeding in the final third against this sort of competition, but will he get the chance to do it against better sides?
Alejandro Bedoya (On 65) — 6 — Worked his butt off, was difficult to play against, but didn’t quite have his cutting edge.
Bobby Wood (Off 60′) — 6 — It wasn’t a particularly bright night for Wood, who was just inches off for most of the night.
Jozy Altidore — 9 — A slow, clumsy start had us wondering if this wasn’t his night, only to find out how wrong we were. A bull as usual, and two deft finishes. His intelligence doesn’t get enough credit.
Substitutes
Jordan Morris (On 60′) — 6 — Good work rate, nothing splashy from the Sounders man.
Paul Arriola (On 64′) — 7 — Scored his second U.S. goal, missed a possible third, though. Just 21.
Caleb Stanko (On 73′) — 6 — Game was dusted when he earned his first cap.

DJW never supported me! Saintfiet quits as Trinidad and Tobago coach… on Facebook!

The Trinidad and Tobago National Senior Team was plunged into further disarray this morning as Tom Saintfiet quit his post as head coach, just before lunch—barely one month into his tenure with the Soca Warriors.
And, almost in keeping with the farcical business of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA), the announcement was made, not through a media release or press conference, but via a Facebook post.
“I resign as National Team Coach of T&T!” posted Saintfiet, on the wall of his social media account.
The Belgian coach confirmed that his stance was genuine and said he already shared his feelings with the foreign media. He said he no comment to make to the Trinidad and Tobago media or public at the moment....

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) has announced that former national player Dennis Lawrence has accepted the position of Head Coach of the Men’s Senior National Team.
The TTFA has says it has “worked diligently to complete the selection process ahead of our intended next Monday deadline”, and issued a statement to quell “further speculation” presumably stemming from media reports which indicated that Lawrence had backed out of coaching talks.
Lawrence will arrive in the country next week where he will hold a press conference and meet with members of the local football fraternity to determine the rest of his support staff.
In accepting the appointment Dennis Lawrence said, “I feel very honoured and humbled by this opportunity and the confidence placed in me by the Association. I have given my all for Trinidad and Tobago as a player and now relish this moment to contribute as Head Coach of the National Team.”
“Of course I am coming into a difficult situation and we have to take each game very seriously and put our best foot forward. The experienced [sic] I gained working under different coaches during my 89 international caps for T&T and my exposure to coaching has [sic] all helped to shape me. I intend to give my very best towards this national effort.”
Former Soca Warriors' coach Tom Saintfiet resigned after just 35 days at the help, citing a lack of support and strained relationship with the TTFA and its president David John-Williams as a reason for his departure.
Sol Campbell set to return to football as assistant manager of Trinidad and Tobago national team after being persuaded by Thierry Henry phone call
Sol Campbell is back in football as Trinidad and Tobago assistant manager, after a phone call from former team mate Thierry Henry.
The former England international was targeted by the Soca Warriors, who are revamping their coaching set-up, after former Swansea player Dennis Lawrence was appointed the Caribbean nation's new manager.
‘It will be challenging but I’m ready to roll up my sleeves to help out,’ Campbell told Sportsmail.
The ex-Arsenal defender, who has completed his coaching badges, is keen to take his first steps into football management and this role provides Campbell with that opportunity...
