Abroad is madness to get simple products too. A wholesaler who does normally sell phones send me this. 120k tt for 2000 8 oz bottles of hand sanitiser... before it leave miami, without shipping or local customs etc. (Us currently 8 to 1 if you want to get it quickly)

Dont forget in China the place is under total lockdown
masks must be worn or you get sent back home and you have to stay inside unless for grocery etc.

so we are still a long way from knowing if cases popping up are local spread

however for example the case of the racing cyclist(who travelled from zurich) at the velodrome last week could have possibly spread there and that would be classic case of local community spread.

We will see the spike as the initial cases manifest themselves...nothing can be done to avoid that.
What we are set up to do is to manage the spread while the initial unavoidable cases are resolved.

Anybody else saw CNC3 where they interview the big lady from CARPHA and she contradict what Deyalsingh say in the press conference.

She said that patients cannot be tested based on travel history alone. They must be tested based on symptoms.

She also said that they only test samples that are given to them...

Deyalsingh: $6,000 fine for breaking COVID self-quarantine
Individuals who display symptoms of the COVID-19 and refuse to remain indoors for 14 days to avoid spreading the virus could be fined $6,000.

Asked if he had received reports on individuals who were supposed to be in self-isolation venturing into public places and how they were being monitored by the State, Deyalsingh said under the Quarantine Act Section 3 B, chief medical officer Roshan Parasram is the quarantine authority.

“Under that act, he has the power to impose a $6,000 fine for anyone breaking quarantine. We have taken that decision that anyone caught breaking that will be fined,” he said.

The minister said from his knowledge there was “no one under quarantine, as you put it, roaming the streets. We will be making drive pass at some of these homes to ensure that persons under quarantine are in fact under self-quarantine.”

I doubt they can really enforce this on the people who are determined to break quarantine.
Such people really have to be selfish to deliberately do something like that and spread it to other people.

I really ain't see how some people want to score political points at a time like this. To me, the Cabinet has done well to respond to the virus. Rowley has listened to the advising medical experts and has done what is required. There is nothing i can see that can be done better except in hindsight 2 weeks later and for political reasons.

The financial side of things however would be a much more complicated process. Nobody can comment if it's right or wrong yet on what they're doing until it has passed and done.
