BREAKING NEWS

At a Media Conference hosted by the Office of the Prime Minister today (July 3), the following developments / decisions have been announced:

1. As at yesterday, T&T has surpassed 100,000 patients who are now fully vaccinated. We are well positioned to surpass our initial goal of 188,000 fully vaccinated persons well before the July 31 deadline that was previously set.

2. The shipment of 33,000 vaccines via the COVAX facility which was expected to be delivered in June / July has now been further delayed to August.

3. A large shipment of WHO approved Sinopharm vaccines are however expected to be received from next week.

4. 200,000 single jab J&J vaccines via the African Vaccine Trust are now expected to be delivered in mid-July. With another 400,000 vaccines expected in August. (Our total order via this facility is for 800,000 doses.)

5. From Monday (July 5) all construction projects (both Private and Government) will be allowed to restart. The one caveat is that no effort is spared to ensure adherence to the public health protocols. This also extends to hardwares, quarries and all other service and product suppliers to the Construction Sector.

6. Once all goes well with the Construction Sector, we can soon look forward to a restart of the Service and Hospitality Sectors.

7. Laundry services will be allowed to restart from July 5 as well.

8. The CMO also laid out the conditions for entry into Trinidad and Tobago from July 17. Unvaccinated nationals will NOT be allowed entry into Tobago at all.

Rowley: when borders reopen, unvaccinated T&T nationals will NOT be allowed to enter the country via Tobago.
Unvaccinated T&T nationals MUST enter via Trinidad.

From what I understand they can enter but first through Trinidad and then go to Tobago

Correct.

Option 1 - wait till cases average below 50 (3-4 weeks) and reopen slowly......but then within a month cases skyrocket again and more lockdowns might be put in place. The most likely plan.

Option 2 - wait about two months till cases average below 15 (8 weeks) and reopen slowly while getting another 20% vaccinated in addition to the 15% first dose vaccinated already. The 'safest' plan

Option 3 - Open up everything who dead dead. Everyone's preferred plan.

yea far from over is right and by the end of it we would have handled covid the worse in the Caribbean.

We'll inevitably have the most deaths per million. We would have had the strictest measures for the longest period of times, killing our economy.

And we'd be one of the slowest to vaccinate.
