Re: Coronavirus - COVID-19 - 32528 cases, 833 deaths, 7177 active, 24518 recovered in T&T

Postby bluefete » July 2nd, 2021, 5:02 pm

Found out today about a 15 year old who got covid and almost died.

Person came out of Couva and immediately referred to 2 clinics. Long form covid will be a serious challenge.

Better they vaccinate the young ones than have them suffer like that 15 year old.

This lockdown was a total failure. Almost 900 people dead, 33,000 plus cases. Thousands of people desperate and out of work.

More places opening up because Rowley and Kamla ent helping nobody pay their bills. People rather take the risk.

People will do what they have to do to live.

Rich and famous and red balisier people allowed to travel as they please to bring in the different strains of covid.

Well, maybe except for the Brazilian strain - Vene introduced.

Close up airports for covid 19

Hospitalizations and Deaths seem to strongly correlate (for obvious reasons). Cases are dipping but seem to have stagnated a bit other than today's dip. That trend might continue as well, but cases are definitely dipping more slowly than we all wanted.

Looks like that magical below 50 number is still at least 2 weeks off.

July may end up being another 200+ deaths and we cross 1000 deaths by July 18th.

WTF I hearing... They doing away with state quarantine and opening the border. That is a PNM recipe for disaster.

What really is the plan when Stewart Young say it's up to the individual to manage their own risks.

What the hell really going on?

we aren't sequencing every covid case. we probably not even sampling 1% of all the cases. so they find one or two or nine cases, you'd need to scale up that number several times over for a population-wide estimate.

if they find one it probably have a hundred or a few hundreds already spread out in the population.

awfully familiar is right

Vaccine trials were in many more countries including the US many more in South America and Europe.
Viral mutations are more likely to occur in a host that is unable to effectively combat the replicating virus.

"Researchers have suggested that multiple mutations can arise in the course of the persistent infection of an immunocompromised patient, particularly when the virus develops escape mutations under the selection pressure of antibody or convalescent plasma treatment, with the same deletions in surface antigens repeatedly recurring in different patients."

This statement agrees with what I was saying.
Convalescent plasma and monoclonal treatments work just like vaccines that target a single protein to cause selection pressure on virus to mutate.

No. It is saying something that is quite different from your vaccine vs. placebo thesis.

huh? Never have I mentioned Placebo in any thesis. You probably confusing me with that LARPER BUG

Vaccines create selection pressure for viruses to mutate because they target 1 protein.
Your article quote said people treated with antibodies leads to escape mutations which does the same thing as vaccination.

So we agree ...

You did. (see the quote below)

When testing vaccinations, the test population must include the vaccinated group and the unvaccinated (placebo) group to determine efficacy.

Assuming that's true, then we're very likely to spike late August early September. So I take it another 2 month lockdown from Sept to November is in order?

Current estimates are that the number of COVID-19 infections are more than 6 times the number detected by testing and that COVID-19 related deaths are more than 1.5 times the reported total. It is estimated that 15% of the population of TTO has already become infected with COVID-19.

Proximity to South America paired with less than effective control of illegal immigration means further border controls accomplish little, if anything. Whatever variant makes its way to Latin America will make its way to TTO.

This is for vaccinated individuals. Non vaccinated need to pay for quarantine.
But what do u expect, life needs to go on. Covid isnt going anywhere.
If you wanna live in a bubble until 2030, knock yourself out bro.

Its about time the borders were opened, long overdue!

Based on this lockdown and how it slowly affecting the spread the spread of this virus..the next delta spike wouldn't even give it a dent.

Would n95 masks and social distancing still cut it?
