its not a aripita only issue , all over d country where ppl reside near drinking places they have d same problem , if its not noise its other problems

raising prices of alco [or cigarettes] in d hopes of deterring really doesnt work

all it does is make ppl dig deeper to spend on habits they enjoy which results in less of d same overall $ to spend on more important things ...

The government was never really interested in deterring anyone. It solely is a money making scheme by taxing addictions even more. If they wanted to treat these things, wouldn't they use the recognized medical literature and expertise to treat addictions?

Now we've come upon the question of taxing sugar in our society. The worst addiction in human history, it affects everyone this time. What's the government response to that? Control it through the manufacturers by forcing them to create healthy products and make them stop lying in their ads? Or blame the citizens and punish them more with more taxes and telling people that they're stupid because they have no willpower to resist sugar? Which one will work?

Yip there are two bars within 5 buildings of me and the peace that has ensued because of the lockdown has been priceless.

The absence of the shady characters is a next boon. One of the bars has gambling machines and a set of Vene women so they get a lot of none village patrons.

churches can open 1 day earlier in time for Corpus Christi- of course due to social distancing not everyone can attend

https://newsday.co.tt/2020/06/07/places-of-worship-to-reopen-on-thursday-instead/

Places of worship to reopen on Thursday instead
NARISSA FRASER 8 HRS AGO

PLACES of worship will be allowed to reopen on Thursday, not Friday as initially announced by the Prime Minister.

At Saturday’s media briefing at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s, Dr Rowley had said the decision “should bring a lot of relief” to many people. He said services should be one hour, maximum.

But in a press release on Sunday morning, Rowley said the date was changed.

He said, “This will allow for nationwide church celebrations of Corpus Christi which comes on the eve of the originally scheduled reopening date.

“Believers and devotees are reminded that as we return to our places of worship later this week we must strictly observe the guidelines of sanitising, distancing and wearing of a mask by all persons attending places of worship.”

Plenty mamoo/tanty run village bars close early now, and they are quite leery of outsiders.
Sometimes they remain open for the regulars but lock the gates

Two things that cause plenty "outside" trouble.
Venes and gambling machine.
The concept of a village watering hole / hawk-and-spit kinda dead.

The older heads just wanted to drink rum in peace. They coulda sit by a table by themselves, with a glass, plastic bowl with ice, bottle of tap water and a nip ah puncheon maybe with a loaded ashtray. No music, no gambling machine, no tv, no radio maybe the occasional chat with a padna or bartender.

yup. If you grew up in the cane belt, this was the norm.
I grew up in california, so nearly all the BC factory workers had their rum regimen, by the same watering hole.
pass in a take a drink before going to work, then pass in after work for a 1-2 hour rum session.
Occasionally, somebody wife woulda pass and berate them for spending out dey money by de bar.

Trinis are really never satisfied with what they get, so many Trinis caught outside our borders, and yelling how government unfair by not allowing them re-entry, now that they have started coming home under permission and with strict guidelines in place for mandatory quarantine in place, some of these same biartches want to fine xcuses to leave quarantine and have been applying to do so, and now when they cant they vex.
WTMC wrong wid allyuh?- they should send allyuh krunts back.. or make you stay in quarantine longer now.
Wonder what the beaches will be like next weekend !

for people who travel atleast once during the year.....
how long before you feel you going to risk going abroad?

considering the longer headaches associated with travelling

and imagine this scenario ,

5 family members plan a family trip, flights and hotel paid for
day before one member get a cold, high fever whatever, airline probably gonna blank that family member at the airport...

whats the scene there?

i normally use to go miami once a month, sometimes 3-4 times for the month, caribbean islands 3-4 times for the year to meet suppliers

now i dont see myself travelling for a 2 years

You start to travel to the US exactly two weeks after receiving your Covid-19 vaccination.

I've already burned two airfares this year.

Here are the measures with respect to Phase 5 which will take effect from Monday June 22, 2020:

7. Public Transport including Inter-Island transport return to normal.

8. The Regulations as it relates to congregation in a public space will now move from groups of ten (10) persons to groups of no more than twenty-five (25) persons.
