Why is the government is spending over 40,000 usd on a Trucam when the internet lists the price somewhere around 5000 usd???

Madness ...
Anything these politicians touch has to involve bobol.

If it is only on UBH it is just another way to oppress South and Central people

Supposedly 5 assigned to the UBH and 1 to the CRH.

That seems fair :drinking:

Very relaxing drive yesterday evening when everyone was more or less driving at the speed limit.

Hopefully the TTPS puts the speed guns to proper and correct use.

If these guns have such "accuracy" in taking pictures and locking in on vehicles, why can't it be used by police to als catch persons on the shoulder?

By now there should be a frequency map of where the accidents occur.

Make those speed zones and monitor speeds there.

Reasses every 3 months.

Have the traffic wardens trained to use the guns so we could free up TTPS resources.

Slowly things will change....new habits will develop as we adapt.

I AM GLAD that they are enforcing the speed limit because in the early stages when I was driving on the roads , I was always afraid when they speed and take me over and cut in front of me so close...taking over a line of cars especially in a curved road where you can't see .. and driving on the shoulder...which was MADNESS..Who vexx loss..I say
Better than doing something than nothing .
But I really want to know why they now enforcing it ..since I knew myself it was like the same 80 and stuff?
I don't want to know that they doing it because they feel that there are too many deaths on the roads ..THAT IS NO EXCUSE AT ALL ..AT ALL!
Say it isn't so!

(ie. gov't is govt..whether any party in power)

They doing it for money. Oil revenue down so they fast track the implementation. No different to when oil prices dipped years ago and they suddenly increased the fines for other traffic offenses.

They should increase the fines by a huge margin since they cannot really detect every single offender on the road(lack of manpower, time etc)...

A sick world we all live in ...money talks..
BEFORE -("hey ,we ok with ppl dying on the road ..we don't have to enforce anything because we gettin enough from oil and gas. We could at least plead to the public to be careful on the roads ")
AFTER- ("hey lets enforce the traffic laws now and pretend we studying the amount of innocent ppl dying because we losing money as a nation from recession")

Too much of bad in this world..cant wait for the entire world to be destroyed...and for ppl to take account in what they did.

Nah. It's never about capturing all. It's also never about being draconian.

Must say it feels nice to do 200 - 240 km/h without bouncing up traffic in the right lane now.

What is the actual charging process?
Are they taking your info and mailing ticket or are they coming after you one time once your caught going over the speed limit....

Reason I'm asking is if someone else is driving your vehicle but it's registered to you...who is liable to pay the charge

or they could be doing it to address the wanton carnage on the roads due to excessive speeding and dangerous driving over the last decade?

any accrued revenue is just an additional bonus...

Doubtful or else they would have addressed the lack of cable barriers by chaguanus by now I feel. Literally a section there that is a ramp from one direction to the opposite.

i agree it is for money.

on another note, people need to stop saying speed causes accidents and deal with the real problems.

if a car crash cuz he was driving 150 on smooth tires, speed wasn't the cause, the cause was 2 fold, one the person driving, two the smooth tires, speed only compounds the incident, its not the cause.

if a car crash cuz he was driving 40 and the driver was drunk, speed wasn't the cause of the accident, the drunk driver was, speed only determines how hard you hit and possibly if you or someone else dies.

if someone weaving in and out and end up crashing or causing someone else to crash, speed isn't the cause, the cause could be one or many of several reasons, a lack of courtesy by other drivers to allow another car to pass, the driver's error or lack of judgement, maybe the driver is in an emergency and trying to get somewhere fast.

i agree with Narend and the petition as he is recommending a revamp of the entire system. i.e. educating drivers on how to handle vehicles at different speeds on different surfaces and conditions, changing road rules and regulations, changing speed limits etc.

So why they can't implement a graduated licensing system?
