Speaking on Talk City 91.1FM's Breaking News Programme a short while ago, Minister Alfonso said: "All these roadblocks that were in place should be stood down immediately. So as we speak, those should not be in place. What I have not yet got from the Commissioner is who authorised those roadblocks in the first place. I expect a statement from the Commissioner very, very shortly."

National Security Minister Carl Alfonso this morning called on acting Commisisoner of Police Ann Marie Alleyne-Daly to call off the nationwide police road block exercises.
Alfonso said he had not known of the plan by police to embark on this "crime fighting" measure, and wanted to know who authorised it.
Alfonso said that by 11a.m, the road blocks had been called off and that a meeting has been sechedule with Alleyne-Daly for 1.30p.m.
There is concern that the police officers will returned to the streets this afternoon to resume the roadblock searches.

Police officers ,health care providers and generally all classs of workers must be properly compensated for their services and the process to achieve this cannot continue to rely on outdated haggling and barely legal extortion, but must be based on the more rational systems of benching marking and market surveys which require planned periodic updating (not exceeding 3 yrs).
The consequences of what we fail to do today is guaranteed to come back and 'hurt' everyone of us.
I wonder how many of our innocent citizens with life threatening challenges were at risk Friday and today.
