...She’s 17—UTT student
Ravina Rampersad, the girl captured on camera wining with Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley, is a 17-year-old University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) student. This was confirmed yesterday by Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) secretary general Satnarayan Maharaj. Rampersad, who lives with her father at Union Hall, near San Fernando, attended Parvati Girls’ Hindu College, Debe. The secondary school is operated by the SDMS. Rampersad, who wore a $2,800 costume, will turn 18 in May. Her mother lives in the Unites States, the Express was told. Rampersad was photographed by Express photographer Trevor Watson wining on Rowley on Carnival Tuesday as they paraded before the judges at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts, San Fernando. They were both masqueraders in Ivan Kalicharan’s band Bazodee. The photographs became the topic of heated discussion on social media sites with many supporting Rowley as well as criticising him. Kalicharan’s son, Aaron, responded to the furore as he received the award for Band of the Year at City Hall San Fernando yesterday. Kalicharan said the band had ways of knowing the ages of people in the band.

But that horse has already bolted out of the stable if in some way we want some sense of morality in Carnival. Mrs. Rowley didn't see her husband leaving to play mas and thought that he was going to parliament, this isnt Keith's first rodeo. From Max Richards to Kamla play mas now that Rowley lowered the bar it becomes immoral?
Trinis need to stop having circumstantial consciences and call a spade a spade. If dancing with someone other than your spouse disqualifies someone from office then apply it across the board.
