From the video the police looked disorganized and ill prepared.

Financial/corruption scandals are trivial when compared to genocides like which Pinochet, Milosevic, etc were responsible for. As a politician you do not want your name to be mentioned in the same sentence with those.

If East POS ends up like Tivoli Gardens in Kingston back in 2010 with the Dudus Coke standoff, then I can see the army stepping in. Currently East POS isn't as bad as Jamaica.

what is needed in these areas, is not a state of emergency but a heightened authoritative presence.

i suggest that units comprising 3 to 5 regiment men to accompany 1 to 2 police officers. they would all have body cameras, and the vehicles would also be equipped with cameras and gps trackers.
the regiment men would act under the instruction/guidance of the officers. they are just to be extra hands.
there should be many of the units just cruising through the area. not more than 15 mins should go by with out being able to encounter one.
the point is to make it so hard for criminal activity to be carried out as they are accustomed to. to allow for the very rapid deployment of mass control and crowd suppression because there would be so many of these units in the near vicinity.
the cameras are to ensure that the officers do not transgress the laws as well, as an insurance for them so that they can prove what ever action they take was justified.

it would just be a few extra officers you would have to get, use of the regiment that is already paid for, cameras/gps system which may not cross $100k tt.


this is not to intimidate the locals, and limited use of the 'stop and search' technique. as long as u not doin any ting abnormal, u supposed to be safe.


if u have a higher criminal activity , then have a higher police presence.
