Duane seeing that you dont see the argument, I'll try to explain.

Initially in the beginning complaints by the OP on the first page of this thread there is clearly a gripe as to how much Samsung phones there is,now mind you its the same for Nokia HTC etc, all phone manufacturers have a line of their products be it 2, 3 or even 20 different models to choose from.

Having said that, Apple chose to manufacture only ONE type of cellphone, its called an iPhone, just like the iPod, iPad iDildo etc, whatever their reason for doing so its their choice and now they are paying the price for it because sales have been plummeting for some time now and the only way for them to even remotely get their foot in the door of trying to turn around the company's revenue is to offer a sub model of the iPhone 5, its not called an iPhone 6 but a sub model of the said iPhone 5 called the 5S and 5C.
Now wasn't this the same thing the OP was quarreling that Samsung is doing from page 1? now Samsung has a line of Galaxy phones called the S line, be it the S, S2 S3 and now the S4 and their sub models the active and so on, now how come its a problem when Samsung brought out their Galaxy sub model called the S4 Active BUT when Apple brings out their sub model called the iPhone5S line and their iPhone5C line its called a "different marketing strategy"?

Apple users need to lose their "elitist" mentality and come back down to earth and realize that the world is moving in the direction of CHEAPER technology and thats why Apple came out with these new phones although they are not even remotely as inexpensive as the Samsung and others counterparts. and thats the argument.

BTW how's that IOS7 working for ya? someone told me they don't like it cause it looking to Samsungish

^ so far 3G followed by 3GS, 4 followed by 4S and now 5 followed by 5S appears to be succession and not a sub model. Each S model had a better processor etc. The 5S has a 64bit processor, how is that a sub model of the 5 that has a 32bit processor?

The only spinoff type phone Apple has done so far is the 5C. However the 5C is US$549 vs the 5S at US$649. It does not appear as though you can purchase an iPhone 5 anymore from Apple, nor are they manufacturing any more iPhone 5, so it's safe to assume that the 5C has replaced the 5 and as is normal with Apple, the previous model drops in price usually by US$100. Apple has not changed their strategy and the 5C then is hardly "cheaper" technology. The 5 was given colour and some beefed up internals and called the 5C.

Regarding your claim that Apple "sales have been plummeting for some time now", this report by ZDNET stating "The iPhone did remarkably well, selling 37.4 million over the quarter, compared to 35.1 million in the year-ago quarter."
http://www.zdnet.com/apple-q2-2013-hard ... 000014459/

Image

Yes there was a 25% drop in revenue from Q1 to Q2 2013 (even though Q2 2013 was as high as the highest quarter in 2012) but Q3 saw the release of the 5S and 5C AND a new iOS bringing the opportunity to increase revenue again as they have done in years past.

I'm sure even though the 5C has a plastic body it will not feel even remotely as inexpensive as the Samsung, so I will agree with you there.

iOS 7 is working pretty well having been in the hands of developers worldwide for some months now.
Major apps such as Facebook and Twitter have created interface and integration changes to their apps specific to iOS 7.

Facebook for iOS 6 and iOS 7

Have major players like Facebook or Twitter ever created an interface, integration or anything specific to Samsung's flavour of Android?

I'm not sure what parts of iOS 7 looks Samsungish

I can find a bunch of ways that Samsung has copied Apple though

Duane, the argument was never about which product resembles which, it was about about Samsung bringing out more than one phone and calling it this and that (see page one)
Samsung started bringing out more than one version of the S4 and its only now that Apple is getting their asses handed to them via sales they are doing the same but none of you apple boys are seeing that.
so I fail to see your point with regards to who following who.Clearly you boys don't see that Apple is now following Samsung's marketing strategy

Don't see what's wrong with having a 38 phone lineup, it just gives the consumer more choice, or probably sells more devices to the same customer.

having both an android and iphone, I prefer the android. It comes down to personal choice, no need for argument. Buy both and end the argument.

same here but I have an iPhone 5 and a Nexus 4 and I prefer the iPhone. The ecosystem with Apple TV, Pioneer AppRadio with Siri Eyes Free in car, AirPlay on a growing number of speakers and electronics, "Made for iPod / iPhone" on far more electronics, works flawlessly with a Macbook (alot more ppl using Mac these days), PhotoStream to family is fantastic.

Have to admit that Google Now is pretty awesome and getting better than Siri in some aspects.
Even though iTunes Radio plus Siri is a winner e.g. "Siri play Alternative on iTunes Radio" and it starts the music on the phone with an alternative music station even though I don't have any music stored on my phone. It's free and it works in T&T without any VPN.

WRT to the 38 phone line-up, the first post just made the comment that Samsung bringing out that many devices and permutations was analogous to spam, where the segment is flooded with a "hit and miss" / "spray and pray" methodology.

The only two things I don't like about a iphone/ipad is that you need to connect to a pc to transfer music and you just can't get a song or video on torrents and grab it.
Else its a very well built device and will be around a long time.

Samsung literally over doing the models

They need to launch products twice a year or so

Iphone 1st gen-got it when it was hot. Was still a myth in trinidad when.i came back with it. Right now its a paperweight literally
uploadfromtaptalk1379821885071.jpg

Iphone4s-still in the box. Got as a gift. Took it out to charge. Played with siri. Tried to get her to say something rude. Packed it away. Iphone is unappealing to me because of my experience with my first iphone. If it were up to me i'd pipe it and buy a g-shock frogman buh fiance would geh on like a cornt.
uploadfromtaptalk1379821661722.jpg

My mainstay phone currently; motorola defy. Android. Work issued mobile, splashproof, dustproof, touchscreen blablabla. Zero flams. Zero folly. Google it. Not the hottest phone out but its more desirable to me. Why? Android. Splashproof. Rugged.
No pic. Im using it to type this post

Im due for an upgrade october 2014. Will push corporate to get that s4 active.

you can transfer music to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad via wireless sync. Your don't have to plug it in to a PC. Once you add your music it will show up on your device.

Apple owns iTunes which is the largest music marketplace; They won't allow easy access to pirated music on their devices. However you can rip a CD or add your music to itunes on your PC and it will show up on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad wirelessly. Alternatively you can put music in dropbox and play it on your iPhone or iPad.

just turn on iTunes Wifi Sync

Well I can think of only 4 things that make the S4 better

5 inch screen yet at same time the overall size of the phone is actually smaller than a S3

Super AMOLED Screen which if you look at it in real life appears to be light years of IPS LCD used in apple phones. Infact contrast ration in OLED is infinity if you read the spec sheet. As black as a black hole literally. ITs also 1080p and a lot sharper than iphone retina display

2GB RAM

Though I have no idea how this affects both devices because if you look at infinity blade on iphone 5 it looks better than any game on android and runs on a 1GB RAM iphone 5.

Removable battery. This is a major plus you can walk around with spare and swap in and out in seconds.

Polycarbonate plastic. More durable than aluminum iphone when it comes to drops. Plastic can flex and absorb shock way better.

So this means you can use your S4 without a case and get a better feel of the phone. Compared to buying that sexy all aluminum iphone 5 and having to put it in some nasty case which in the end makes it look and feel 100 times worst than a Samsung plastic phone.

Just some food for taught.

PS ios still runs smoother than a 8 core S4 monster phone for some reason.

One great thing about apple is its hard to pirate games on their system. On android you can download apk files so easy its easier than PC piracy which is why a lot of great apple games are not on Android.

Google does not seem to care about this at all.

part of it is marketing (which has worked well for Apple as they are one of the most profitable companies in the world ).

The other part is quality control. The process to have your hardware or software approved by Apple is mind numbing. It took us almost 2 months to get the TriniTuner app approved by Apple and they required we implement best practices before being allowed in the appstore. Googles approvals took 10mins. I could have easily uploaded malicious code.

By making their own computer, wireless router, tablet, TV set top box, phone etc and working with hardware developers with strict QC, Apple can ensure everything works well with each other.
Millions of devices are made to work with iPod / iPhone.

I have no problem buying a few songs i actually want for $0.99USD each, rather than buying an entire cd for $15-$20USD

Then again android fans are hinting that they want pirated media (torrents)

I don't support pirates so iTunes is perfect for me

I won't be surprised if android fanboys are also pc gamers.
