So you only have one amp? Why then do you need a x-over?

Well then you need a pre-amp, not a crossover....or a good dual band EQ! I'd suggest the latter since you can use it as a crossover when you get a second amp and if after that you get a proper crossover, you can still use it to pre-amp and shape your sound.

^^ wat eh said.

also, that gemini crossover uses fixed crossover frequencies, you can't select between those frequencies. the knobs are therefore like a selector switch.

just make sure that your speakers will sound good crossed any any of those frequencies first before you buy.

The QSC RMX5050 is approximately $10,000.00 new.
The Crown Macrotech 5002VZ is approximately $15,000.00 but in case you dont know, this amplifier is officially discontinued by the Crown company.

The ferry rates are standard for Private vehicles. Since the pickup is registered as “T” it will depend on type, model, size and weight....got the info from here: http://www.patnt.com/ferry_schedule.shtml

I paid $75 to go across last time with the van but that's without cargo in the tray...
I guess I'll have to call an agent and find out what's what.

Cherrypopper, I've used the pacrim powered 18's.

No problems so far apart from the weight and size of the boxes (they ain't really that portable nah). when eq'ed properly they sound better than anything in the same price range IMO

Guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I am interested in getting a pair of Pro Audio subwoofers for a high efficiency home audio application.
This is not a DJ setup at home, but a hi-fi sound setup. The subs will be reproducing between 30-300Hz in a ported enclosure. I am hoping to use 18s. They do not need to be run loud, or handle huge amount of power. The idea is to retain pro audio dynamics with hi-fi sound quality.

What is most important is the sound quality of the subwoofer and the ability to do at least 30Hz in a ported enclosure.
I am looking at the B&C 18PS100 (Sham's) and the 18Sound 18LW1400 (Steve's). These are what I came across when researching foreign forums, but I'd like some local input as well about other available brands (RCF, Eminence, Ciare?). I really have no idea about Pro Audio subwoofer quality, so I am looking for any recommendations, please.

Silent Riot, why not build a pair of subs with plate amps and car audio subs??? You can get quite a good response from those and may suit your application. I'm talking more like a 25Hz extension. Just a suggestion.

crazybalhead, I currently have what you suggested (2 12s sealed and 1 18 ported low). These will do low end well, but I'm looking for something that will also do the top end (up to 300Hz) into the midbass region. This is the reason why I am looking at pro audio woofers, and I'm willing to sacrifice the very low end (below 30Hz) if required.

Well RCF P300 was the speaker of choice for a period of time and those were really good
Heard some wicked lows with these in SB1000 and really loud in the EAW 850 clones

My cuz recently bought some B&C TBX100 and they are in some horn loaded boxes and they are really impressive!....

You can also look into the FaitalPRO 18's as well as i've read pretty good reviews on them in international venues

Mind you those subs are well powered using either VZ5000 or itech 8000 and if u do decide to go with any of those, you may need to hav such power, maybe the 2400 or 3600vz or around there

What is the pricing like on those models?
I was reading up on the TBX100 B&Cs, they have a lot of motor technology to reduce distortion. Dr. Earl Geddes also uses them in his Gedlee speakers.

Smokey: I made some progress on the Cubos, but not enough to post up yet. I am in the process of gelcoating them right now, but when u got a 2 year old and baby, time does be hard to find when u got too many hobbies.

Rovin, 90% of the party venues is never square/rectangle. Check home designs and properties of everyone you know. When u set up a dj system by someone house for party/wedding/etc, u have to set up in L-shaped, tent based, partially outdoor/indoor...........in other words, its always very arkward situations to position boxes, and ur equipment. I am not a club DJ so I can tell you this. Every venue is a different setup.

Easiest hookup is one line signal.....i.e. I use left and right summed into mono and feed that to my amp rack/powered boxes. It works best for me, and no one knows the difference.

most of the times
NO

remember most DJ jobs you have one single stack, so if its in stereo i dont think it will make a difference

in live music however, where you hav a set on both sides of a stage
some ppl use stereo
