Defeated UNC St Joseph candidate Ian Alleyne said he will be returning as host of Crime Watch in 15 days’ time. Alleyne took a break from his show CrimeWatch on CNC3 television to contest the St Joseph by-election for the United National Congress (UNC) but was defeated by the People’s National Movement (PNM) Terrence Deyalsingh on Monday.
“CrimeWatch will be bigger and better now because for the first time people will have more access to Government services.... I will be able to help the people more because I have partnered with the Government and it’s not a matter of sell out, when people come to you and you can’t get a home or food, now we have access to call the minister, now we have access to call the Prime Minister directly to tell her what’s going on. We have lost at parliamentary level but the people have gained more power on the ground,” said Alleyne.
Guardian Media has confirmed via CNC3 News that Alleyne will discuss his future with the media house by Monday. However the Trinidad Express reports that Alleyne was offered to take his show to State-owned CNMG station.
“I am a brand. I don’t think my brand has been tarnished. I have been labelled a performer and I achieved a lot in ten days,” said Alleyne when asked if he believes his viewership would have fallen given his political affiliation. READ MORE VIA TNTFinder http://ow.ly/qEBQO

Inspector Roger Alexander popularly known for his stint on the Crime Watch programme says he will not be returning to the show.
Host Ian Alleyne has said the Crime Watch will be returning to TV soon. But Inspector Alexander says Mr Alleyne’s heart is no longer in the right place.
Inspector Alexander says a lot has changed since Mr Alleyne entered the political arena and he can no longer align himself with Crime Watch or Mr. Alleyne. Mr. Alleyne was the united national congress candidate in the St. Joseph by election. He lost to the Peoples National Movement’s Terrence Deyalsingh who is the new MP for the area. Nevertheless, government has said Mr Alleyne will assist National Security Minister Gary Griffith in the fight against crime.
