up to 20 feet storm surge in some areas

In Florida's Big Bend area south of Tallahassee, from Carrabelle to the Suwannee River, forecasters expected the water to reach 15-20 feet above ground if the storm surge's peak occurred at the same time as high tide. Other areas could see anywhere from 3-15 feet of water, the hurricane center warned. Fifteen to 20 feet of water would be enough to cover a two-story house, Parkinson pointed out.

"The water impacts are probably going to be the most impactful part of the storm, the most deadly part of the storm," Jamie Rhome, a deputy director at the hurricane center, told CBS News.

the warnings were no joke

Surprised nobody talking about just how bad that weather was yesterday and all the flooding throughout the East.

They should start with revamping the surface water reserves. Most of the dams you can walk across and pick flowers in now. Used to pump water from there to pap in some instances.

It is scary to see very dark clouds overhead, thunder and lightning and not a single drop of rain.

Signs of the times.

Yeah dat was a big piece a rain yesterday. Had a crew installing a gate by me. Luckily they finished most stuff when the rains came down but had to wait an hour and a half sheltering under my porch to finish installing the locks.
