A petition supporting the construction of the Debe to Mon Desir section of the Point Fortin highway has been sent to Dr. Wayne Kublalsingh by students of the University of the West Indies.
On Wednesday morning, University lobbyist Ravi Maharaj handed over the petition to Hayden Kublalsingh before his brother, environmentalist Dr. Wayne Kublalsingh, arrived at the Office of the Prime Minister in St. Clair to start Day 21 of his hunger strike.
Mr. Maharaj said following Tuesday's panel discussion at the University on the current stand off, the petition was passed around and 100 participants signed.
The students contend that with the construction of the UWI Debe campus, the Debe to Mon Desir portion of the highway will be necessary.
