Govt got two good years of rainy season and now 2017 seems to be a test of state of readiness.
The first hit was upwards of $25mill, one wonders what is on the horizon.
The elements have set us up for high flooding risks.

Even though there is not a direct threat, feeder bands could still affect us.

Traffic is a mess outside there in ALL directions. Thank God schools are closed.

MET Office Bulletin #3

INCLEMENT WEATHER OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS DESPITE WEAKENING OF TROPICAL STORM
DON

At 2:00 p.m. today Tuesday 18th July, 2017, the centre of Tropical Storm Don
was located near 11.5N Latitude and 58.7W Longitude or approximately 200 km
east of Tobago.

Don has weakened over the last 3 hours and is now a marginal Tropical Storm.
Maximum sustained winds are near 65km/hr. The system is currently moving
toward the west near 31 km/hr and this general motion is expected to
continue through Wednesday. On the forecast track, the centre of Don will
move across the Windward Islands, north of Tobago, later tonight. The
Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) continues to monitor any
changes in the forecast track.

The leading edge of Don is already affecting Tobago with light rain/showers.
An increase in activity including thundershowers and gusty winds, at times
in excess of 60 km/hr, is forecast to affect Tobago overnight. Rainfall
experienced over Trinidad today was not associated with Tropical Storm Don
but rather local dynamics due to intense daytime heating and light low level
winds.
As the afternoon progresses Tropical Storm Don will bring additional
periods of showers and/or rain and a few thundershowers over Trinidad. Gusty
winds, street and flash flooding can accompany heavy showers and
thundershowers.

Don is expected to produce rainfall accumulations of 40-60 mm with heavier
amounts possible in some areas. The possibility of landslides/landslips
exists. Sea conditions can also become choppy in the vicinity of heavy
showers and thundershowers.

All interests in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and its Dependencies are asked
to monitor the progress of this system and pay close attention to
information being issued by the TTMS by visiting our website at
http://www.metoffice.gov.tt, downloading our mobile app (search: TT Met Office) and
following us on Twitter and Facebook. The TTMS is reminding citizens that we
are in the Hurricane Season and adequate preparation is advised.

WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT AT THIS TIME TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT UNDER ANY
TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCH OR WARNING.

i guess the met office didn't bother issuing a watch/warning for us because of the small storm force wind field

Well if thus far this isn't a leading edge of Don and we already soaked, when the system does arrive tonite , it had better be low on saturation capacity.
Right now 'we already wet and ready'.

It is a good thing that the rains did not come from Don.

Have you tuners seen the amount of flash flooding COUNTYWIDE, today?

^ but river levels would now be high due to those rains which would then cause a high likelihood of flooding tonight when Don's rain bands do affect us.

That is worst possible time as all the runoff from this afternoon still making its way down watercourses etc
Really a problem for the low lying areas though

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
Data from an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft indicate

(0300 UTC), the remnants of Don were located near latitude 11.9
North, longitude 62.5 West. The remnants are moving quickly toward
