Clearly UNC/COP using desperate measures. cuz I mean to choose of all people... Ian Alleyne??? Steups waste of time voting for Ian. Cuz all he about is showmanship, clearly he is not representative material. Plus he is a sell out because now, after his run in politics he would be seen as a neutral voice in society.

Re: Ian Alleyne CRIME WATCH thread

Ian Alleyne, United National Congress (UNC) candidate for the St Joseph by-election, has lost another of his close allies following the parting of ways with his lawyer and adviser Om Lalla, who is fighting the seat on an Independent Liberal Party (ILP) ticket.

Police Inspector Roger Alexander, who worked with the Crime Watch host-turned-politician, told Alleyne that his political path is far removed from the crime-fighting focus.

Speaking with TV6 News yesterday, Alexander said he wants nothing to do with politics and told Alleyne he should “refrain from using my name whilst on the campaign trail”.

“As soon as Mr Alleyne took up this new portfolio, I had to separate myself. This is no longer a crime issue. After Mr Alleyne succeeds or not, I remain a police officer, one who is respected by the public,” said Alexander.

And acting Inspector Anand Ramesar, president of the Police Social and Welfare Association, also told politicians they can’t use the police for political mileage.

“It almost appears as if there is a wanton and irresponsible action on the part of those aspiring politicians to use the Police Service for its own gains and we are saying very clearly to keep the police officers out of the political campaign,” said Ramesar.

“We are not for sale and we are not going to be prostituted on the political campaign.”
