I don't take this as a given. The PNM, beyond all the nostalgic hype, is right now in fact and reality, a divided party.

Given a slim majority, any member at any time would have the capability to bring down the entire government if they personally do not get their way. What happens if a particular member doesn't like a particular policy? What if any particular member wants funds or a position and blocks anything else until they get their way? Any way it plays out, it will be difficult to govern under those circumstances.

Rowley is powerful enough politically to hold them all in line even with a slim majority. Will Rajesh be able to do that? For all the Jhaji Bhai radio play, when Rowley is gone and Rajesh has to stand on his own, will he be treated by the party as an undeserving outsider that hijacked the PNM? What is to stop Penny from making a play at any time?

If the internal falls to one-man-one-vote as done previously, what happens if the rank-and-file reject Rajesh? Will we get a palace coup and Penny takes the throne?

All this is glossed over by taking PNM mythology as accepted fact. But what happens in real life remains to be seen. In the unlikely event Rajesh does end up winning, I going to be on vacation, so I leave that to allyuh.

BTW, I seem to be the only fella who vote May.

They may be divided but they are keeping it together so far because they are in government. Keep in mind that the MPs who voted for Penny in that straw poll probably got some nice inducements over the past two months for their signature to take to the President, including Penny herself. We'll have an idea what happens between tomorrow and Monday. I'm guessing all signatures were collected and already at President's house. Just Rowley have to do the honors and resign.

The elected MPs could go against him in Parliament but if they got their inducements, high chance that would not happen. Plus the pnm prides itself on "stability" sometimes to the detriment of their own supporters.

Yes he will still be seen by some as an undeserving outsider that hijacked the party with rowley as the enabler, but if he wins the general elections, it would be seen as the country giving him a mandate to be prime minister. At that point, nobody will want to upset anything as Stuart will be in government. He will then be voted in as the pnm leader in September, therefore no palace coup. Who want to have a palace coup and you just got elected to government with full access to the treasury?

Did he call an election date ?

I saw a lot of pnm motorcades in south today .
So thst would indicate that election is close.
And If he say the battle has started it would indicate to start to campaign .
But if he call an election date very far , like August , u would deplete ur campaign funds long before that time.

So, I would wait till he call a date before laying out the big campaign spend.

Pnm have access to fund a year long campaign ... So don't take the bait

Remember he got a 50 million "entertainment allowance" . He has 50 million to burn through so this is probably just the beginning

I'm guessing with the slate already complete and Stuey becoming PM tomorrow, brib... ah mean campaign contributions will start to come in. No need for the party to spend big in the beginning because Stuart will be PM tomorrow, and he would use his office and other government resources to "campaign" for now. Between now and elections is just a test run and for the population to get use to him as PM.

With all the stuff that dropped today about his bullying in CIC - best to call elections and let the people decide - but I am sure it was planned long in advance.
