You people need to go and see what is going on in Carriacou RIGHT NOW!

It is very scary. Thanks to maj.tom for video link. I think the link just went down but you can see what happened before.

At 47:10 you can see a coconut tree topple over.

so no tropical storm force winds were affecting us as of 8am (only tobago) so im guessing the warning would be discontinued at 11 and downgraded to storm warning for tobago

11am NHC advisory - so bago only getting tropical storm force winds, at least on the SW side.

https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT2+shtml/DDHHMM.shtml?

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles
(205 km). A weather station in Crown Point, Tobago recently reported
sustained winds of 46 mph (74 km/h) with a gust to 54 mph (87 km/h).

There have been multiple reports of downed trees, flooded streets,
power outages and storm surge flooding in the Grenandines, Grenada,
Barbados, and Tobago.

Yup missed directly hitting Greneda too, though I imagine it must have still been pretty bad there.

It have a jet stream there in the Caribbean thst will try to keep it moving west., but we see the sea temps and coriolis wanting to twist it up north.

Interesting to see which forces stronger... Prevailing winds or sea temps.

LOOP NEWS is reporting that Carriacou was FLATTENED IN HALF AN HOUR!

Actually:
https://caribbean.loopnews.com/content/ ... que-710267

Prime Minister of Grenada Dickon Mitchell says Category 4 Hurricane Beryl flattened Carriacou in half an hour as reports coming out the sister isles are of widespread devastation on Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

There are also several reports of damage on mainland Grenada.

Beryl made landfall on the island of Carriacou around 11 am on Monday. The prime minister says there are currently no reports of injuries or loss of life.

However, he was informed by Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs Tevin Andrews, that there is devastation all around.

Reports coming out of Carriacou are of extensive storm surge, loss of roofs and damage to buildings. There is no electricity on any of the sister islands and communication is also difficult.

Prime Minister Mitchell hopes to start damage assessment later today to begin the process to recovery.

In the meantime, the prime minister has instructed the Housing Authority to make available to citizens of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, the Chinese built affordable homes so anyone without a roof over their heads can have immediate access to the site for temporary housing.

The Minister of Finance as well as the Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs have been instructed to identify local suppliers on Carriacou who have stock such as plywood, tarpaulins and water etc, to make them immediately available to mount recovery efforts.

Mitchell says as soon as it safe to do so he will journey to Carriacou to conduct an assessment and give a report to the nation.

On mainland Grenada, several reports of damage have also been received with roofs being blown off, including the roof of the Central Police Station on The Carenage. The roof of the Mt Gay Hospital was also damaged with steps taken to evacuate patients to a lower floor.

People occupying shelters have been asked to continue to hunker down as the State of Emergency remains in place.
