ok cool. I have to see if I get one to keep in my tank. My sand bed really needs a cleaning. Once it doesn't throw sand on my corals. The tank now pass the 4yrs mark about a mth ago.

Check the coraline growth in this tank. Using wavepoint cheap LEDs and some natural light. About 9 months old

http://www.amazon.com/Wave-point-12-Inc ... wave+point

this is the light i'm using in that tank, note that this tank is connected to all my other tanks
the only difference with this tank is the lighting

these leds brightness dimmed over the past year as well, it reached a point where xenia started dieing off so I changed it. Not a spec of algae in that tank, I think the amount of lighting was just right

Sometimes it also has to do with the intensity of the light and the time it stays on. Some people has their white lighs on all kind of 14-16 hrs cause they want to see their fish. Some of my best coral growth with the lights i have has been between 6-8hrs. every day it comes on and off at different times

I use a big ups, lasts about half hour, which more than the typical cut off time.

If it goes for longer, I have battery back up air pumps that comes on with power loss and my power heads also have a battery back up on it.

If its really long, I have a small generator.

I dunno if its overkill, but its a peace of mind for the work done.

My Vortech pumps have an option for a battery backup which I use. The battery backup keeps them running for about 24 hrs so that the water stays oxygenated. I have had outages in the past on my old heavily stocked reef for about ten hours with no issues. Checkout some other powerhead manufacturers too. A few of them have options for battery backups.

Thanks will checkout the battery back up for the power heads. Would a hob filter work for a 35 gallon tank.

Hello everyone.
I'm starting my 100 gallons reef tank... I will be ready to add corals and fish at the beginning of November.
But I have one problem - I don't know any single place in Trinidad that selling corals and fish...

Actually I already asked this question two years ago, and I got the answer, but that place doesn't exists anymore - at least not at the same address in Chaguanas.... And, I wasn't into the reef aquariums since then because I was moving from Tobago to Trinidad and had some other personal stuff....
But now I am finally ready to set up the amazing reef tank hehe  . I don't know everything about Trinidad yet because I live here few years only (I am originally from Europe), but I really need to learn everything considering that I'm going to spend rest of my life in this beautiful island!
Also I would love to make contacts with people who have the same hobby in Trinidad... It's nice knowing people who love the same things.

So, any help about places where I can find corals and fish would be very appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
