SUPER BOLT
Jamaica sprinter wins third Olympic 100m title
Published on Aug 15, 2016, 5:00 am AST

If there were any doubts, it took less than ten seconds—9.81, to be exact—for Usain Bolt to erase them.
He is the Olympic champion once again.
On a muggy Sunday night in Rio, the Jamaican superstar won the signature event in track and field in a runaway and added this line to his already gleaming resume: first person to capture three straight 100-metre titles at the Olympics.
The 6-foot-5 sprinter/celebrity overcame his typically slow unfurling from the blocks, gradually worked up speed, caught American Justin Gatlin with 40 metres left and was celebrating—pointing at his chest with his thumb—before he crossed the finish line.
Bolt beat Gatlin, who was greeted by the fans with raucous boos, by .08 seconds. Andre de Grasse of Canada won the bronze.

A few minutes after the finish, Bolt was unlacing those now-famous gold spikes and taking selfies with the fans. Then, he turned his yellow hat backward, kneeled down and gave the crowd what it really wanted. It's that famous, arching “To the World Pose” that he debuted eight years ago in Beijing.
Chants of “Bolt, Bolt, Bolt” rang out from the near-capacity stadium. The show lived up to its billing.
No, this wasn't Bolt at his fastest – or even his best. The man who burst onto the scene with his hot-dogging world record eight years ago in Beijing turns 30 after these Olympics and says these will be his last.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/36689475
Michael Johnson, four-time Olympic gold medallist:

"That was a fantastic performance by Usain Bolt, he slowed down and said 'I've got this'. It wasn't about the time, it was just about winning the gold and going out on top.

"I didn't expect the race to unfold the way it did.

"Gatlin got a great start but it was always within Usain Bolt's reach because he is healthy.

"He has been an amazing ambassador for this sport and in creating a brand for himself and the Jamaican athletes."

Steve Cram, BBC athletics commentator:

"He still looks like he really enjoys this. This is what he does. He gathers titles like daisies in a field.

"Our sport has a lot of critics and it's going through dark times but we should not forget that this is what can be done. This is what can be achieved.

"He is almost God-like."

Honestly I wouldn't have it anyother way. Quite a fan of Bolt, I want him to win every time with gold no matter who he is up against. There is also the satisfaction that he represents the Caribbean.

Question is who is the greatest Olympian of all time Phelps or Bolt? Swimming is pretty boring though.

Swimming can't touch Track... Let's not even have that debate!

BTW lets not forget another all time greatest Jesse Owens and the man he described as his best friend Luz Long the same man Hitler described as the master race but lost to Owens.

Few might really appreciate what this picture means

Swimming has several types. Backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, etc. Several distances in each style 50, 100, 200, 400. Then you have relays and IM.

Track sprinters usually participate in 100 and 200 or 200 and 400. Rarely they may throw in a long jump. Also the 100m relay. There is no backward race, sideways race, butterfly (Jamaicans might dominate that lol).

Tough call. Both at mega winners. Phelps by sheer medal count is ridiculous. Bolt by the fact the to 100m is one of the biggest, most anticipated events at Olympic games..

Listen let's break this down even more... Besides the fact there's no skipping or hopping version of the 100m

Less than half the world's population has access to learn how to swim. But in running nearly everyone can run... We are seeing possibly the hardest sport to be a master due to sheer number of potential athletes to compete against... Vs. A Niche sport.

Phelps is good, but he's not on the same level as a Jesse Owen's or Usain Bolt. Track and field is alot more technical and alot more people in the pool of athletes worldwide.

To be the best at T&F you have to be EXCEPTIONALLY incredible. The End.

Why are you trying to upset the people? They no longer dominate in Track & Field. You want to say Bolt bigger than Phelps? Nah man. You wicked

Totally agree with you though. Not even close. Bolt is known globally. Easily recognized. The average person won't know Phelps...

This is Owens actual Olympic gold medal btw I think it was sold for around 1.4 million US on auction couple years ago or something like that.
Not sure which one this was but he won 4 gold medals at Berlin.

Owens actually broke 5 world records in 45 minutes in Germany.

What I like about Bolt, and I'm sure a lot of spectators will agree, is that he decisively put an end to the incessant trash talk that spewed from US sprinters.
He silenced them by showing up and delivering!!
